Rumor: Pitt Joining the Big Ten

Normally I woudln't post rumors like this... but for the purely hilarity of Jhammack and Pitty having to defend the B10 in the future I am going to.

Pitt supposedly informed thier scholarship athletes that they will be moving to the Big Ten, and the athletes put it up on twitter, then were told to remove it minutes later.

I'll still call it as I see it. I think the Big East was pretty competitive this year and had a decent showing in their bowl games minus Cincinnati getting buttfucked and West Virginia giving Bobby Bowden a last win.

Like I said before if this goes down, it's better for Pitt sports simply for the Football aspect of it. Pitt gets into a conference with stability and a conference that won't get raided every year.

Plus Pitt will still keep it's biggest rivalry with WVU, so it doesn't upset me like that. Basketball however, doesn't make a lot of sense. You leave the "sec" of basketball for a lower level (Power) conference.

Pitt football.....welcome to 5-7.

Pitt being 5-7, laughable. With teams like Minnesota, Purdue, Northwestern.. etc. Pitt will continue to get better and Wannstedt/Cignetti are really putting together some great recruiting classes. If Pitt does indeed move to the Big 10, their recruiting will get better. Not to mention, they won 10 games this year and will a lot of that team back... Sorry but that doesn't make too much sense.

I don't necessarily hate the move. If Pitt doesn't go to the B10, they get screwed in the football sense. Eventually a team was going to be taken, Rutgers/UConn. Then there is talk about another ACC expansion, so that's an even more likely hood more teams from the Big East are going bye bye. So It's a good move, because it moves to a more established conference that won't get raided like the Big East.

I like the move because it finally makes Penn State play Pitt and stop being a pussy. I think that'll become a great rivalry again.

The Big East is gonna disband. Bye bye Backyard Brawl... way to ruin tradition.

The Backyard Brawl won't go anywhere. Unlike Penn State, WVU will continue to agree to the game as will Pitt. They will more than likely, always play.

MWC without a doubt. Con USA/MAC/WAC etc. Don't have a chance to claim it considering what the MWC has done. I would think Boise might try to get into another conference very soon.

Yeah you're right, Notre Dame is making a poor decision. However, the Big 10 has nothing to do with it. ND refuses to join any conference in football. And until that changes, ND will continue to be an independent and think it's better than everyone else.

Not really. It's financially better for ND to be able to independently negotiate all their TV contracts for football. ND's ratings being down for a few years isn't any big news. Once ND becomes good again though the ratings won't matter as people will tune in to watch. This years ND USC game pulled great ratings(the best since the 2005 classic) The ratings down the stretch were bad but so was ND....

What's funny is that could be the way it works out. Well probably not Wisconsin in the same group as Penn State/Pitt/OSU/Mich etc. However, I don't think I like how that is set up. One side, like the Big 12 has by far the best 2-3 teams in the conference, where the other side gets a pass and gets teams like Northwestern and Purdue.

Even though we hate each other, if they took away that game both fanbases would unite to kill the Big 10 officials. Even Ohio State has been killing us the past few years, it is still my favorite college game to watch.

Also, having Penn State, Michigan and OSU in the same division is bad IMO. I know Michigan is just ok right now but we'll be back and having all three of those teams in the same division wouldn't be good.

Yeah Michigan State has had some success, but that doesn't mean the conference is better because 1 team had success. Not to mention the Big East had 7 teams in the tournament, 4 out of 7 in the last 8. That's impressive. If I'm not mistaken, the Big 10 had 4 teams in the whole tournament.

Okay I went and looked and they had 6 I think. However, out of those teams Michigan State and Purdue were the only 2 teams to advance into the Sweet 16. The Big East, had 5 and 4 of which went on to the Elite 8, and UConn beat Purdue in the Sweet 16 leaving 1 Big 10 team.
