They play ball the way it was played when I watched multiple games a week back when I was in high school.

I love watching the fundamentals of the sport rather than the trash we see in the NBA these days. The Spurs play fundamental basketball and win without big name players.

Not a single player in the top 40 in the league in scoring this year. They play team basketball that is why they are the best (arguably) in the league.

Yes they have Duncan and Parker who are future HOFamers. As far as headliners or top players in the league ... Not anymore. My exact point.

First, let's not mince words here or edit them or whatever. The term you used was "big named players". You stated that the Spurs have no "big named players". So under your magic formula for "big named players" (aka the top 40 scoring list), you would not consider Kobe Bryant a "big named player" anymore, correct? What about Chris Paul? He's outside the top 40 scoring this past season, would he be a nobody? Just want to get my facts straight over here.

Also, it seems you really put a lot of emphasis on "scoring", rather than any other statistic. I guess it doesn't matter that Tim Duncan was top 5 in blocks this season. Nope. He's washed up, old, and a no-name.

By the way, we get it, they are a great all-around team, no one is arguing that fact. Like usual, you missed that part.

I'm the #1 most knowledgeable NBA poster on VSN, so I won't belittle you guys for not knowing this, but Tim Duncan has been the NBA MVP twice, and is a 14 time all star. He has 4.28 MVP win shares, which is 9th most all time, and second most among active players.

That seems to meet the definition of a big name player. Buckeye needs to check his facts before posting next time, so he doesn't slam his dick in the door again.

But Buford and the boys have done a great job at keeping the talent level of the squad high, and consistently finding guys in unconventional places to make up for their lack of high draft picks or cap space.

I didn't know the exact numbers but I knew the numbers were high [because they mention it every year the damn Spurs are on tv in the playoffs !

As a Spurs fan, I would agree with that. The front office is the key to everything that happens on the court. Tim Duncan is really the only person drafted that I think most teams would have really gone after. Buford was a pioneer in going to the international leagues and finding players that fit the needs of the team at that given time.
