Okay so here's my take ...
- head trauma is bad
- The NHL agrees head trauma is bad and is going to great lengths to prevent, treat and reduce it ...
- The NHL allowing players to punch each other on ice is counterproductive to their efforts to reduce/prevent head trauma
- Thus, the NHL should eliminate fighting as part of their effort to reduce/prevent head trauma
This. x 1 million.
Not comparable.
A fight is agreed upon, a h2h hit is not.
This is why the NHL is policing headshots, not fighting, nor does the league have any desire to, because the NHL understands it's own game.
If you left it up the players and they feel that h2h hits shoul dbe allowed then they would be "agreed upon"..............and everyone with a brain stem would agree that the choice is retarded.
Yet again you have no point.
Ahem ... IT FIRES UP THE TEAM ...
Since no other athlete in any other professional sport can get FIRED UP on their own accord ... only the barbarian hockey players can get FIRED UP ... but not until they see their teammate fight someone.
What I find hilarious is more violent and contact driven sports like football, and rugby don't require fighting to police the action. Yet hockey requires 4th line goons to protect fags like Sidney Crosby. I must have missed the retalitory hits on Big Ben for the Harrison hit.
Oh wait, NFL players don't need fighting to regulate the sport because they aren't morons.
Head shots are "intrinsically tied to the sport" but fighting isn't? Remind me how head shots are needed to "put the puck in a net".

bama:
More retarded hockey fan bullshit. The NFL tries to regulate h2h hits. They still happen. Hitting is intrisically connected to the sport of football. h2h will happen in football. Checking etc is intrinsically tied to the sport of hockey. As a result of these collisions h2h hits will happen as a natural result of the game being played and the function of the game(scoring goals..or in this case checking to stop them). The NHL tries to limit those as the NFL has tried to reduce the ones in their sport.
Fighting is not tied to the natural action of the game because the game action actually stops when the fight occurs.
Ar you too brain dead to get this?
For fuck sakes.
Exactly like a huge hit in football when a safety crushes a receiver coming over the middle and knocks him out, does that not get everyone fired up?
Irrellevant for the simple fact the hit you just described occurs during normal course of game action. Fighting does not as game action actually stops for the fight.
Irrellevant even more now that most players relaize knocking someone out is bad and most call for help if they know a player needs it right away...regardless of what team they are on.
The situation you just described is more closely related to a legally check in hockey....which no one has ever said should be banned..only regulated more closely..the same way the NFL is trying to regulate the hit you just described above more closely.
More bad comparisons by hockey morons.
