Kolb has never been impressive. He went 5/10, w/ 24 pass yards to start the year and did not play that well vs the Saints last year and last year who couldn't tear up the Chiefs defense. He may be playing soft competition but he's taking advantage of it. Kolb wouldn't have been able to take advantage of the Jags bad secondary. Vick accounted for 4 total touchdowns, 3 passing, 1 rushing with no turnovers. Would Kolb been able to do this? No.

the head coach has already said that Kolb is the primary in the long run.

With the way the Eagles' O-Line is playing, Kolb simply couldn't do what Vick is doing right now ... even against the Jags and Lions.
If Vick is getting sacked 6 times a game, how many times would Kolb get sacked?

That said, Vick is playing fine. He really couldn't be playing any better. Is he going to play like this for 13 more games? Of course not. But he's winning and he's playing great right now so good for him.

Also his Saints game was perfectly average. Completing barely 60% of your passes, 3 interceptions to only 2 touchdowns. Together not that good a game at all against the Saints. Then against the Chiefs defense, they were worse than the Jaguars and the Eagles O-line was much better at the time.

The Vick who played in Atlanta didn't have this kind of coaching or the weapons he has in Philly.
The Vick who played in Atlanta admits himself he was undisciplined, didn't put the hours needed into the filmroom, etc... Was a big time case of entitlement.
The Philadelphia Vick learned from McNabb what it takes to be a pro QB, learns from Reid/Morningwheg how to be a real QB, and has lost that sense of entitlement that most people lose after two years of dropping the soap in a federal prison.

Comparing today's Vick to Atlanta's Vick is like comparing Vinny Testaverde as a Jet to Vinny Testaverde as a Buc.

Thats exactly the point.. he hasnt gotten the fair chance to show what he can do, and he hasnt played badly at all when he has. Theres absolutely no reason to believe he cant tear up the Jags and Lions, or the Packers in garbage time.

And don't get me wrong here. I agreed with the decision to move on to Kolb (though not the need to trade McNabb to a division rival).

But I had no clue the Birds' O-Line would be this bad. Not even remotely.

Under this scenario, I would have advocated keeping McNabb. I had no clue the Birds' O-Line would almost be as bad as the Buffalo Bills.

Because it is, the Birds need to keep Vick behind centre/center.

I, like you, think Kolb will be a good, possibly great, NFL QB. But behind this O-Line, his greatest chance at immortality is getting 20 concussions in one season.

Don't you guys remember the same false revelations when he would have a few good games like this in Atlanta? They would say the same thing that he was beginning to develop into a better pocket passer, and then he would eventually fall back into old habits.

Although I agree completely with Dave on the fact that having to fight for a job again made him into a better student of the game and may help him develop into a better player, I would not buy into him changing into a great pocket passer just yet. Keep in mind he carved up the secondaries of Detroit and Jacksonville which I would say are mediocre, at best.

And Kolb does not suck. Lest we forget the good games he had last season filling in for an injured McNabb. The offensive line is just that bad.

I've seen two games of Vick's this year. He looks like a completely different guy throwing the ball. I think he's just a lot better now and more mature.
