I can see both sides but if I'm Reid, I go with vick if I'm trying to win now and Kolb if I want to look towards the future. Like mobb said tho, it'll be interesting to see what they do in the long run. I believe they will be forced to pay big money to one of these guys because if Vick does leave, they are burning ties with Kolb and he might not want to stay either.

Because the whole idea of using (wasting) a 2nd round pick, trading McNabb and giving Kolb a contract extension was for him to become the starter of this team. I think everyone understood the Eagles weren't going to be a contender in 2010, so this was the year to see what Kolb could do for a whole season, not 1 half of football.

Starting Vick for the remainder of this season will be a waste when he bolts after this year. I'll be surprised if the Eagles resign him. If they didn't have any faith in Kolb (which is pretty obvious now), they should have just let McNabb finish out his contract and spend money to fill the holes on the defense and offensive line. They would have been a contender then.

Its really a matter of winning right now and in believing that you can't make decisions hinged on what you did in the past. You've already said the Eagles have to put the guy that allows them to win right now and that is Vick. Organizations like the Eagles aren't in the business of worrying about next week, next year, etc, but rather the next game.

I said Vick gives them a better chance to win now, but I didn't say they have to put him in. I was OK with Kolb going through the growing pains of being a first year starter just to see if he was what Andy Reid and the front office cracked him up to be. Especially since they traded their best QB to allow that to happen. And, like I said, I'm not a Kolb fan at all.

I understood that this season was probably a losing season with Kolb at the helm. With Vick in there, yes they will win a few more games. They may go 9-7 and even get a wildcard berth. But this team is not on the level of the Saints, Packers or Dallas (once they get their shit straight).

I agree with almost everything but Kolb being an unknown.

The guy is overrated, period. Look at the game tape from the last 3 games he has played, especially last season's tape. He played against a suspect Chiefs D, that was being burned by every offense in the league. And even against them his biggest completions were 15 yard hitch routes or slants, that were turned into big gains by Jackson and Celek.

Next the Saints will be brought up. Remember this, Saints D in those first 3 weeks weeks was nowhere talented as the Super Bowl game D. Reason being is they had suspensions and injuries on the d-line and the D-backs they used in the Superbowl and after the Eagles games weren't even on the team example Mike McKenzie. The Saints also played a lot of man coverage, which works great for Kolb because of his weapons. Desean, Maclin and Celek are amazing at shedding man coverage and getting open. Also lot of the stats vs the Saints were in garbage time = soft D.

Everyone knows Kolb dosen't have a deep throw. So what do you do to beat QB who can't throw deep? Play Zone. And guess what thats what the Packers did, easily neutralizing him to 5-10 and 24 stinkin yards.

They put Vick in and yes it gave them mobility against the pass rush, but guess what the guy can sling it, like McNabb, and all of a sudden Desean & Celek were making plays down the field. Also, don't forget Kolb couldn't find Celek if his life depended on it.

I hate the dumb comparisons in the off-season to the Favre-Rodgers situation and Montana-Young situation being the same as McNabb-Kolb. Rodgers and Young went to schools that actually used a legit offensive scheme against talented defenses. They also have accurate deep passes. Kolb played in Conference-fuckng-USA, name one team outside of TCU that even competes with the big schools? I mean are you freaking serious!?!

What made anyone outside of Fat Fuck's arrogant brain think this guy had any ability to play in the NFL?

Source: Eagles get calls on Kevin Kolb

The Philadelphia Eagles have received numerous calls about the availability of quarterback Kevin Kolb from several teams, according to a senior team official.

"We have had calls," the team official said Wednesday.

One of the teams to contact the Eagles about Kolb was the Cleveland Browns, whose general manager is Tom Heckert. Heckert was the Eagles' GM before taking over in the same capacity with Cleveland before this season.

When asked Wednesday whether Kolb would be on the Eagles' roster after the Oct. 19 trade deadline, Eagles coach Andy Reid said, "Listen, I can't predict anything down that far, nobody in this league can do that."

Kolb has missed the past six quarters because of a concussion, and Michael Vick played well in his absence. Kolb was cleared to practice and was expected to run the first-team offense Wednesday.

However, on Tuesday night, Vick was named the Eagles' starting quarterback, with Reid saying, "When someone is playing at the level Michael Vick is playing, you have to give him an opportunity."

Vick came on in relief of Kolb after Kolb suffered a concussion in a 27-20 season-opening loss to Green Bay.

Vick threw for 175 yards and one touchdown and ran for 103 yards, and last Sunday he passed for 284 yards and two touchdowns in the Eagles' victory over the Detroit Lions.

It doesn't matter whether or not Vick will be back next year, or if he can lead them to the playoffs, or whether or not Kolb was the reason for trading McNabb. None of that shit matters. As of today, Vick is a far superior football player and that will likely never change.

Kevin Kolb fucking blows and will never do shit as a starting QB in the NFL. The awful first half performance he showed was not a fluke, that's how ill equipped he is to be a pro passer.

How many of you Philly guys watched him play at University of Houston? I watched him play a handful of times and was thoroughly unimpressed. He didn't throw a single pass from the pocket, he'd sprint out to the trips side of the field on every single play (not exaggerating) and made his hay completing 5-yard flood routes to wide open guys against shithouse C-USA teams. He's a poor man's Tim Couch, at best.

The Eagles sent McNabb packing because they're stupid, cheap and stubborn. Fat fuck Reid made a mistake drafting Kolb in the 2nd round and is now pot committed. (Kolb probably would've been there in the 5th, and if not, who fucking cares? He sucks.)

Meanwhile, he never expected Vick to play this well. He never thought his decision would be challenged so strongly. But now? Now that Vick is playing well (not just well, better than he ever has before), he has no choice but to play the superior QB.

Only a dumbfuck, or a guy intent on getting fired, would bench a 3-time pro bowler with playoff experience, in the prime of his career, in order to "stick with your guy," especially not when "your guy" was a colossal mistake of a draft pick in the first place.

The highest paid back-up in the game should get an opportunity to start. Kolb might not be the answer right now, but I think he is still the future in Philly. If he wasn't, then the Eagles would have traded him by now for sure. Because a team (Cleveland) would have overpaid for his services.
