The Eagles' defense has been tough all year long.

One cannot patrol the streets of Philadelphia without being surrounded by the color of midnight green, without seeing multiple number five jerseys. There is excitement in the air, and this excitement is about the Eagles.

The Birds earned homefield advantage throughout the playoffs by winning the Conference championship with a 12-4 record. Despite having numerous injuries, nobody could seem to slow down the Philadelpiha squad.

"I can't sleep, I'm too excited," said quarterback Donovan McNabb. "The fact that we've been through so much with the injuries and all the excitement surrounding Mike (Vick), and we've still succeeded, it shows that we can handle anything. I've never had talent like this play around me, and I don't know if I ever will again, so we need to make the most out of this opportunity."

The Eagles will be playing the New Orleans Saints, who finished 9-7 during the regular season. Philly barely escaped the Saints in week two, only winning because of a fourth quarter kick return by Quintin Demps for a touchdown to put the Eagles on top.

New Orleans will be without their star quarterback Drew Brees who is still recovering from a broken hand sustained in the regular season. Mark Brunell will be starting behind center.

"They don't have their man," said Eagles linebacker Akeem Jordan, referring to Brees. "We're gonna need to put pressure on Brunell, get in his face, exploit their weaknesses."

Win or lose? Only time will tell. One thing is for sure: The entire city of Philadelphia will be ready come Saturday.​

The atmosphere in Lincoln Financial Field resembled the 2005 atmosphere, the year that the Eagles went to the Super Bowl. All the seats in the stadium were filled, but none being sat on.

Philadelphia's Donovan McNabb was on point, throwing 18-22 and hitting a man in the endzone three times. Rookie running back LeSean McCoy piled on his first career 100-yard game as well.

Philadelphia's blitz schemes overwhelmed Saints quarterback Mark Brunell, forcing him to throw four interceptions, one of which taken back for a touchdown.

The Eagles dominated on both offense and defense and earned a chance to play against the winner of the Green Bay Packers-Seattle Seahawks game in the NFC Championship.
