I don't understand why people think Spurrier is lying.

I've worked at a couple different NCAA schools...it's VERY rare for any of the coaches themselves to fill out the all-american/all-conference teams...and *some* of them don't even fill out top 25 polls. Usually it's the sports information director (media relations director) who does it because either a.) the coach has no time or b.) the coach doesn't know as much about the conference/nation as a whole. That sounds ridiculous, I know, but you would be VERY surprised at how clueless a lot of collegiate coaches are about things outside of their own team. I'm not saying Spurrier is one of those guys, but I fully understand how this happened, because it's rare that the coaches themselves fill these out.

Yeah, I'm sure Spurrier has never heard of Tim Tebow before.
