red wings post game show on 97.1, most of the wings were already off to the lockerroom when crosby went to shake hands.

Couple more things on my mind:

Who do you think has more trouble sleeping tonight, Hossa or Brad Stuart?

It was sad to see that Brad Stuart still has some Shark in him. And to think, I was almost beginning to question Doug Wilson for letting him go.

As for Hossa, I really hope the Sharks don't go after him but I can see Sharks fans pushing for it. Guys basically a clone of Marleau. But man, winning 50+ games in the regular season would be fun again...until we lost in the 1st round again..

I love pretty goals as much as the next guy, but I'm really a fan of the grinders and checkers, the guys built on grit, and that's why I've come to like Detroit so much. Guys like Cleary, Maltby, Franzen, Holmstrom, Kronwall, Helm, etc. just fight for the puck and that's why I respect them. But after watching this series I have a newfound respect for Pittsburgh. They made some great moves in the offseason and it paid off for them.

Are Staal, Kunitz, and Talbot locked in to long term deals? If so, the Penguins are going to be contending for the Cup every year for a long, long time.

What a great series and a great game. Congratulations to the Penguins and their fans, they deserved it.

I am really going to miss hockey this summer.

Hell, despite our hatred of Sid, we even cheered him the second Bettman handed the cup off to him.

To say we booed the Pens is asinine. Bettman is the boon of this league and he deserves every boo we can give him.

While teammates played Game 4 against Chicago, Red Wings defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom was undergoing surgery after getting speared in the testicles by Patrick Sharp in Game 3.

"I thought it was OK that Saturday when I practiced," Lidstrom said, "but Sunday, Sunday I was just in too much pain. I had surgery during that game."

Lidstrom said he would need more tests, but more surgery probably would not be needed. He said it was the most painful injury he has had.

Pavel Datsyuk was less willing to discuss the injury that sidelined him for seven games from Game 3 against Chicago to Game 5 against Pittsburgh. There may have been more than one injury, but he did suffer a foot injury after blocking a shot in the same spot twice.

In Datsyuk's view, it no longer matters.

"Too late about injuries," he said, "now, especially. My body doesn't feel anything now. My body just feels empty now."

I don't know about those guys' contracts, but someone asked Babcock in his presser last night whether he thinks Pittsburgh will build up into a "powerhouse" and he mentioned that Malkin goes from something like 3.5 million this year to 8.7 million next year, "and that's two more players gone right there."

So I guess we'll see what happens.

between Gill, Boucher, Guerin, Sykora, Satan and Fedotenko, they simply have to part ways with a couple and keep the rest. fill the missing spots with AHL talent and life goes on.

I don't think the loss of two or so of that group of 6 REALLY makes them all that much weaker...


Guerin alone makes up the difference, and he's probably eyeing retirement anyways.

he wont be back in detroit, the only way he stays here is if he comes dirt cheap. Players who do not perfrom in the playoffs /finals get run out of town quickly. primeau, cheveldae, essensa, ranford, joseph, and so on.

k, well there've been talks among the Wings, even though you can't believe rumors and all that, the talks have been since the beginning of the playoffs that Hossa and Wings have a 6-7 year deal in place and they were going to sign after their playoff run was over.

I guess we'll find out obviously, but i'd put money on him staying a Wing, i doubt he wants to gamble with another team and i don't think that Pittsburgh would take him back, well the team might but the fans won't imo.
