GB was up 7-0 and about to go up 10-0 when Suh pulled his BS. I wouldn't say the Lions had GB. Game would probably been closer but GB was still ahead by over a TD when this happened.
And I don't think Suh had any QB sacks, hits or any tackles up to that point, so it's not like the guy was dominating the game.
GB was up 7-0 because of that miracle play from Matthews (fuck his stats, that guy is still as beastly as ever). There's at least two touchdowns in that game that were purely because of stupid detroit penalties and stupid turnovers. Goddamn if it wasn't flag after flag play after play the entire first half, just no discipline from the Lions. The deep pass to James Jones was a classic Rodgers play, and Green Bay earned it, so don't misinterpret ; I'm not trying to say Detroit got robbed any stretch of the imagination.
But to only be down 7, a 7 that was gifted, at the half, was quite a statement. I mean I could be one of those little bitch fans that complains about the bad spot or this call or that call but my random moniker is Diivox not BigBucs so I won't go there. That being said, I've been saying all season long that the way to beat Green Bay is to play good defense and sustain long drives, keeping Rodgers the fuck off the field. the Lions were doing that.
Football is a sport that is really deeply based on passion and momentum, which is why I love it so much. This is what Suh needs to learn. When Suh is at his best, he's out there setting the tone for his teammates reminding them that they dont have to take shit from anyone. Suh is the most important player on that team ; his motor, his passion, his "we ARE better than them and we have no excuse if we don't win" mentality is a larger part of Detroits turnaround than anyone realizes. The guy just doesn't know where the lines are, and I have to agree with the sentiment that this is a coaching thing. Schwartz has made the consciounce decision that he'd rather have the penalties and downside of that type of aggressive than have a soft team that doesn't beleive in itself.
After the ejection, his teammates werent the same. Speaking of Clay Matthews, the two players have similar effects on their team. Their value isnt found in the stat line, it's found in the way their motor rubs off on their teammates. When you've got a guy out there like Suh/Matthews playing every down like it's the closing scene of Rudy, it makes other guys better. It makes guys work harder. It makes the coaching staff's job easier. It helps the team in ways numbers cant quantify.
