How many players actually cark it before they are inducted though? For every Derrick Thomas or Reggie White there are at least 20 John Elways or Jerry Rices who live to see their inductions and do crappy advertisements for the local businesses for the rest of their lives.

Ok. Let me rephrase my point then and be a little more direct so we don't include bench players who won NBA Championships. Tedy Bruschi's career > LT's career. Just my opinion.

Bruschi's career was more meaningful and accomplished,he was relevant while he played. Thats better then not being relevant till after you are done playing.

Tedy B. played 3 different linebacker positions and played in 22 playoff games = he is a more relevant individual in a team game.

Thats a first. Usually people are bitching that too many players are in the HOF simply because of their SB rings, and guys who were great players get completely ignored because they never won a Super Bowl. For you to take the opposite stance is retarded and factually incorrect.

Not sure why you keep bringing up Robert Horry. Bruschi was an NFL starter for 10 plus years and a team captain for most of that time on a team that is considered an NFL dynasty. Horry has chmpionships but he bounced around the league and was a career reserve who averaged 7 points a game. Not that I'm that interested in arguing the merits of Robert Horry, especially in an NFL forum, but lets keep things in perspective.

I'm not one of those "Super Bowl or career bust" guys, but I do believe it should be a consideration when discussing a players legacy. Football is a team sport, but I do think when a players contiributions lead to multiple SB wins it should be at least in the same ballpark of a player that racked up a bunch of individual accomplishments but didn't win anything. Especially a player that were on teams that were considered SB favorites going into in a few of those seasons.

Horry was far more than a ppg guy you're mentioning. In his younger years he was a key defensive player for the Rockets championships, and hit big shots for all 7 championship teams he played on. He was far more than some 7ppg bench guy. Much like Bruschi his career was dependent on playing for great organizations and with HOFers that had more responsibilty for those championships.

I'm not one of those "Super Bowl or career bust" guys, but I do believe it should be a consideration when discussing a players legacy.
