I disliked the villain when he wasn't fighting Spiderman and the universe was really small in this film, but I enjoyed everything else much more than the original 3. I loved how cocky he was in the suit.

Sits at a 74% right now. Most of the people on Rotten Tomatoes who don't like ASM are just retards who are loyal to Raimi's versions, somehow still like the first 3 movies even today and just can't get their head around why there wasn't a Spiderman 4 with that same piece of shit cast/director. :smh:

The only possible reason I can see people liking Raimi's shit stains over a movie that respects the comic book's origin is because these people weren't fans of spider-man or hardly even knew about the character before those movies came out. The first movies introduced people to the character and now the reboot is actually honoring the comics and not just taking the characters and doing the bare minimum with them (like in Raimi's)

I lol'd hard when people were actually getting mad that Peter Parker created web shooters in this movie and the web didn't just magically come out of his body. The point of the web shooters is to show that this Peter Parker kid is a fucking GENIUS. A trait of the character that was almost completely ignored or swept under the rug in the first trilogy.

But 84% user likes. Critics are far to critical about movies there not supposed to like and to forgiving with movies there supposed to like imo. This was a good movie no doubt about it and while it wasnt The Dark Night, it was Batman Begins. To me I loved garfield as parker way better toby. Garfields parker was funny and witty, as well as a genius kind of like the spiderman cartoons i grew up watching. If anything my only gripe is that the villian wasnt the most exciting villian in the world, but neither was ra's al ghul either. Id give it a 8.5 out of 10.

It's probably best to consider most of the Marvel movies as happening in different universes as they do in comics where they may not necessarily coexist. I'd be interested in seeing a New Avengers or Infinity Gauntlet screen adaptation, but we probably won't with the Marvel character rights spread out between different studios.

Just got back from the IMAX 3D. Really hard to see how people could defend the first trilogy over this. Andrew Garfield completely redefined Peter Parker in the right way and I can't wait to see where they go from here.

Just saw it. Was great, Garfield is 10x better than Tobey as both PP and Spidey. He establishes real pathos for both characters in a way that was noticeably absent from the Raimi shitfests.

I think they did a great job with the Lizard in this movie. I liked that they showed him transformed and still briefly wearing his coat as a nod to the Lizard from the comics/cartoons:

The movie isn't perfect, but I still enjoyed it a great deal. My main issue was length and pacing. I felt it ran a tad long and I would have tightened it up a smidge, but other than that it was more than serviceable for die-hard fans of the comics and/or TV cartoons.

There were some moments of cheese and camp, as to be expected in a Spidey story, but it found a nice comfort zone that was much truer to the traditional tone of the franchise that the 2002-07 movies.
