no. i like how everyone here acts like the Wii doesnt exist just cause they dont like it. Wii outsold 360 despite a year head start from microsoft.

This.....the wii just destroyed the 360 and ps3. And did it a year after 360 came out. Saying they are not in competition with 360/ps3 is just dumb. The wii won the next gen war and my guess is that when they do pont up the technology to the same standard as sony and MS, that they will have us hardcore gamers yelling, sony sucks, MS sucks.

Nintendo knows how to do it, and does it with a cheaper system that can cater to everyone

You'll still never convince me they are in direct competition with one another. The majority of PS3/360 want absolutely nothing to do with the Wii.

Again, I think you're comparing a Ferrari to a Civic. The Wii absolutely destroyed those systems in sales, I'm not going to argue that. I am going to argue that they were on level playing fields. The Wii one because it severly undercut price-wise anything on the market in addition to adding a lot of elements for casual gamers.

That was never the intention of the 360 and PS3. They are the most hardcore "gaming" systems we've ever seen. Eventually you've seen the 360 try to adapt after the success of the Wii, but I don't feel it's fair to compare the Wii with the PS3/360.

Know what else was the problem? - Overhyped and under-delivered. From initial specs (6 USB ports, rly?) to Sony basically telling the public their console would deliver an overall better gaming experience (based on... ?)

Most people already forget, ALL 3rd party games played like shit on the PS3 compared to the 360 (the console they were all programmed for in the first place). That still may be the case, I don't even know.

But where's the credit to MS? I'm not an MS fan, but they've added an unreal amount of cool shit to their console and online service. Netflix, Xbox Live Arcade, Xbox Live overall (insane amount of detail and integration), Games on Demand, headset included with every console, 1080p movies/ games, online game nights with celebs, giveaways, tourneys, E3 HD video content on-demand. They stepped up on a lot of shit, some of which wasn't included when the console first launched in '05 and Sony's head is still spinning, trying to play catch up. They made it the next-gen/HD console of choice this generation because they were always innovating and obviously, the price has always been right. PS3 fucked itself by trying to be too many things at once. Originally a "computer".... a Blu-Ray movie player that also plays games... "rumble technology is outdated"... "Dualshock 3 is here!".... identity crisis x100.

I don't think they undelivered at all. Did they initially sit on the laurels thinking there name would be enough? Absolutely.
And my PS3 does have 6 USB ports. They original ones did. Is your question calling them out or did you think it was overkill?
I definitely think MS has brought a ton to the table this gen. It's quite obvious that they are doing everything in their power to try to beat Sony any way they can. But they haven't madce mistakes? Get the fuck out. They made one of the worst mistakes ever by releasing their console way too early, knowing it would probably break down considerably. I still don't think they had any idea how bad the problem would be but all they cared about was beating Sony to the punch. "Fuck the customers, we just need to beat Sony!" Not to mention completely abandoning all of their initial customers.
And do we really need to start talking about empty promises? Does anyone remember how MS told us that we would actually be able to use our gamerscore points to buy shit? Yeah, funny how quickly people forget that.
And don't even get me started on how MS has completely ruined the industry with theur overpriced DLC and microtransactions. Have others adopted similar policies? Yup. EA and Sony included. But who started that shit? MS is definitely "innovative" but some times they are too innovative for their own good.

Because popularity and what console sells the most really determines what is a great system. If that was the case, American Idol is the best damn TV show on Earth.

In the end, I got everything I wanted from the PS3 without it blowing up. It is a great system.

$20 for a bluray player??? What? I'd love to hear the brand. And let's just assume it is a decent player for $20 (which I highly doubt), you do realize technology constantly evolves. Bluray was brand new tech when it first released so of course it was going to be a lot more pricey than it is now.

I think there is little doubt that in terms of hardware, the PS3 wins. It was made later and it is more reliable. However, the 360 does beat the PS3 for ease of programming, which has hurt a lot of the third party titles that are being made on the 360 and simply ported over, without taking advantage of the PS3's graphics hardware.

If Sony wants to compete in the next generation of consoles, they will need to come out sooner and cheaper. Waiting so long and then coming out with a very expensive systems set them back a long ways. If they do that and make a better PSN, they can take over the top spot from Microsoft.

Really? For one I don't think Live "destroys" anything. It has some cool bells and whistles but when it comes down to it things aren't that much different. If Live offered dedicated servers I would whole hearrtedly agree.

That's old stock and most sites haven't updated yet. Hell, MS hasn't updated their own site yet because technically they aren't lying. There is plenty of old stock out there that still have the cables. The info was made public this week so you won't be seeing the lack of a Pro SKU and the Elite sans the cables for a few more weeks easily.
