Ring of Honor officials confirmed today that Jim Cornette is officially on a sabbatical from the promotion.

Cornette blew up at the last television tapings in Belle Vernon, PA, and had been laying low since the show and was not going to be at the 12/16 Final Battle event. In a backstage promo of sorts, described as usual Cornette frustration when things have gone wrong, but significantly worse, he expressed issues with problems outside the ring. He had gotten away from wrestling since the show and has avoided contact with almost everyone. Within the company there was the belief that he was done. Those at ROH said he was suffering from burnout, and had been for some time, and called the decision amicable, and noted it would become obvious soon enough since Cornette wouldn't be at the next event.

There is no timetable for a potential return. Hunter Johnston (Delirious), the current booker, who replaced Cornette in the role, will handle the production of television in his absence.

Very much. I don't think Cornette's name will be coming up amongst fans as a "miracle cure" for what ails the WWE anymore. Now we're just down to Heyman, who is probably too smart to come back and ruin his rep like Cornette just did..

As for the conversation on the TNA Aces n' Eights story... I have never enjoyed it. Not going to say its terrible storytelling or anything, but it was just something that never grabbed me. That was fine when it was one segment per show, but a few months ago, it stated to morph into the dominant storyline that every show was focused on and I just stopped watching TNA. Its not like the WWE, where they have managed to kill my interest long-term. Just not intrigued by the story. I can pick it apart, and I honestly don't see a legitimate payoff that will make it worth the effort and time put in. It would have to be someone huge in the business, like Austin or Jericho, and those aren't happening. JJ being behind it is painfully predictable and someone lesser, like Masters, would just be disappointing. But that's just nitpicking - if it had grabbed my interest, then that wouldn't matter. It hasn't and that's really all it comes down to for me.

I dont think Heyman would be stupid enough to come back. He's done it already, and is content doing his limited role on-screen, as well as consulting and possibly helping pen a storyline or two. I don't think anyone like Heyman would take the ball with the WWE as a kids show.

I did enjoy the Aces storyline up to recently, and it's what got me watching TNA in the first place from what I heard from people here. I didn't like the reveal of just Devon, and I feel it's dragging on at times. I just wonder how much the payoff will impact things.

D'Amore is awesome, but he's not a flash guy. So people will never clamor for him the way they do Heyman or even Gabe, given his involvement in the ROH golden age.
