I'll give props to Mysterio tonight, even as one of his biggest haters of Mysteriold, he brought it tonight. Good work.

They had a perfect set up for tonight's PPV. Off the hot PPV, just have a clean, one night tournament to determine the winner. Miz v. Mysterio would have been strong, I do believe. Have Del Rio come out after and win the title...cool too. Just keep it clean and focus on the tournament. A nice, simple RAW off a great PPV.

But, they halted it all and directed the attention away from Punk, from the world title, to the importance of the belt with a new champion crowned tonight and put it on Vince McMahon, John Cena and fuckin Triple H.

I have no problem with HHH becoming the on-screen power suit, power tie guy, but don't do it on an episode of the show that you dedicated already 1h55m to this tournament to determine the new WWE Champion. Its like I watched this 1h55m for no reason, because it was cut short for that junk.

Do that junk next week, let me enjoy this tournament...

It's unfair.
He was allowed to break every rule of kayfabe. Doing that every week would diminish its effect. Like I wrote earlier, you can't repeat Rock/Hogan, Austin 3:16, Montreal Screwjob, etc... every week. It's just not possible.

I don't see it as a feud or power struggle. Vince is gone. Hunter is in now.

I do agree that it seemed like shit to make all the uproar about Punk taking the title and then 5 minutes in, everythings okay because you're just crowning a new champ on the same show.

The good thing, it was a wrestling based show and the Punk stuff hasn't even begun.

Not irrelevent...must needed.

If you are playing off the idea that Punk is actually gone, you need to move on without him and have a tournament to declare a new champion.

I thought it was the perfect way to segment into a new champ and coming off the hot show...a nice base hit, work heavy RAW to crown a new champ.

Then the last 20 minutes was bullshit and it just washed it all away.

Early in the show Vince said it would be a "night we'll always remember." Yep. It is. My immediate reaction is that this is a great angle. Essentially this means the Mr. McMahon character is over and is replaced by Triple H. It works because I think Vince's character had grown stale while corporate Triple H has a lot of freshness to it. He can start off as a babyface, but perhaps he'll be a heel long term. We don't know. Like I said above it will probably lead to the return of CM Punk sooner rather than later. Hunter could publicly call out Punk for a negotiating session live on Raw, so Punk shows up through the crowd with the WWE Title and you can build up to his return that way. His issue was with Vince. Hunter can try to bring him back by doing things his way. The possibilities are endless now.

Lost in the Hunter-Vince story was Cena's performance. I really liked his speech. It was one of his better ones because it felt like John Cena the man instead of Cena the cartoon character. I liked the "brother" line that was a Hulk Hogan/TNA reference too. Did not expect that. They never acknowledge TNA. I'm sure Dixie thinks it's real haha.

I thought the matches were okay although they were short for a reason. They fell flat early on, but the semifinals definitely picked up the pace. I'm assuming we still get Mysterio vs. Miz for the WWE Title next week. Maybe it won't happen, though. It was a Vince idea. Perhaps it will be ended. We don't know.

We're going to go into next week not knowing what the future holds. How is Triple H, new CEO, going to run things? I like not knowing. It keeps people tuned it. Call me crazy, but I'm excited about the future of WWE. Bring it on. Let's have some fun with this.

Darren Rovell, a sports business reporter for CNBC, noted on his Twitter account that last night's angle on Raw in which Vince McMahon was relieved of his duties of WWE chief and replaced by his son-in-law, Triple H, may cause issues with WWE stock.

"The No. 1 material risk against WWE stock is Vince McMahon leaving the business," Rovell wrote. "Tonight's plot could be an SEC violation."
