WWE also thinks it's fans are stupid and would understand his La Mistica finisher that got over like bananas in Mexico. You know the move where he spins around the opponents body, and lands in a reverse arm breaker? That was a submission move in Mexico, he would use the arm breaker to finish guys. In the WWE, he lets go of the arm breaker and pins the opponent for some reason (believe me, he didn't choose to alter that on his own). In an age where UFC outdraws WWE significantly on PPV, WWE thinks people don't understand what a submission is or why a reverse kimura would hurt.
So Mexican fans see their old star with a new name, new outfit, new mask, new finisher, and not doing most of his cool moves. Plus, the guy is clearly struggling with adapting to the new style, because in WWE EVERYBODY MUST WORK THE SAME OR THE DUMB FANS WILL BE DUMB AND GET CONFUSED OR SOMETHING. They also saw somebody else who was significantly larger doing the gimmick for months. And despite all of this, you have people in the company who blame THE WRESTLER (who at his peak drew more than just about anybody in the company) for not being able to get over. LOL.
