The General Wrestling Thread

I have no doubt that the El Generico character can get over, especially with little kids, in the WWE Universe...my only thing is whether or not they will actually let him run with it.

I mean...the awful Spanish language and nonsensical stuff he says can't be that offensive...I mean, Santino runs around with the worst Italian accent in the history of wrestling.

Promote the Generico cartoon character, let him be the uber white meat babyface. He doesn't need promo time to get himself over. He just needs more than 4 minutes in the ring...no one in wrestling is better at generating sympathy than Generico in the ring. The crowd would eat "Ole" up... considering they are a sucker for catch phrases and singalongs.

Ole might be one of the most popular chants in the entire WORLD.

Give him that chant/song entrance, and the crowd eats it up...they don't even need to be cued up like Ryback cues up his...give him the hockey version of the song, its instantaneous reaction and the crowd will do it for the rest of his career.

The Generico character is pre-packaged for the WWE to be big. They would be silly to change anything about him. lol.

Colt is another character that should have been on Smackdown...but, they gave him shit to work with and the rest is history.

Big problem with the writers is they dont watch or care about wrestling...if they did, they would watch these guys they are signing and know what works and doesn't work with them already before they debut.

They sign a guy like El Generico and the change him up? Makes no damn sense.
 
Kharma, Cesaro, Ambrose, Rollins, are reason for hope. All were largely unchanged and/or treated well.

I'm still skeptical about this one, though.

Gargano, Callihan, Adam Cole have all been rumored and either had tryouts or were said to have tryouts that nobody has evidence of.

I think Gargano has size issues to overcome and isnt quite there personality wise. He would spend an eternity in developmental.

Callihan I will abstain because I just don't get him so I have a bias. He's really short and to me his look is shit and screams indie in the worst of ways.

Cole will be headlining WrestleMania in 2016. Book it.

Also, it was rumored Ricky Reyes was signed months ago, but I dont buy it and he hasnt popped up yet. He's short, and is the drizzling shits in every way. The only way they signed this guy is if they mistakenly thought he was Rocky Romero (who needs to be signed yesterday, fwiw, if they are looking for charismatic latino stars and a guy who could be the next Eddie Guerrero if things break right).
 
So anyone else feel that TNA is prepping for a Hogan heel turn with him being the Eric Bichoff like authority figure backing Aces & 8s? Hogan has stated he wants to return to the ring and possibly win another title in 2013. Put him on the side of Aces & 8s and you have their "main event" level performer/leader that they are lacking. They then set up some awful Hogan vs Bully Ray match to headline Lockdown and Hogan vs Sting match to headline another PPV.

Now that Superstars is a recap show with MAYBE one decent match out of two (lots of divas), it's the best 'wrestling' show they have.

Remember how Superstars was when it was first on WGN? Just an hour of matches, with a good mix of top guys and underneath dudes? It's that.

This week was Sheamus vs Ziggler, & Barrett vs Ryder. Next week is Orton vs Cesaro.
