Damn, we had them at the half. We need a defensive presence on the starting lineup, not just Melo. With Melo in the lineup, we move us getting overpowered from the end of the 2nd q to the end of the 3rd.

So because LeBron had a bigger game it is somehow not D-Wade's team? D Wade is still the leader, he's the one who came out and publicly backed coach Spoel, which was a lot bigger a deal than most people accept it to be. Wade started injured and the stats are still almost identical so it's not like one guy is just dominating the ball and game.

Wade: 23.7 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 4.3 apg, eff +22.81
James: 24.2 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 7.3 apg, eff +24.57

Regardless, it doesn't matter who the media thinks is the leader, it doesn't matter who you guys think is the leader, any Heat fan knows it's Wade's team, if anybody's. For this to work it has to everybody's team, Wade and LeBron probably don't go home at night after a game and say "Wow, I'm clearly better than that guy this is MY team he's along for the ride". :dontknow:

The only people who think this is Wade's team are Miami Heat fans and that is simply because he's been there. My post really was less to do with who's team it is, but instead that people actually thought James would become just another player on this Heat team. You are right though it really doesn't matter who's team it is, but instead that Wade and James are playing well together and understand each others role, I can't wait to see how they handle a real championship contender though.

Boston didn't blow the heat out, and they are as real as it gets are they not? Boston won by I believe 8 the first game and 5 the second, both before they started to gel like they have been. Yeah they haven't played all great teams during the streak, but no team will ever have a streak more than 10 games against all great teams, they are beating who they have to. They split with the Magic the first game just crushing them, but I do want to see how bad they struggle against a team like the Lakers.

Off the court, sure, maybe it's still "Wade's team." But only because he's too egotistical to admit that LeBron is the better player, and everyone else respects him too much to say it.

The Heat's success on the floor runs through LeBron though, as it should.

The Heat are playing much better, but the point is they still have lost to Boston twice. In assuming Miami has gotten better the only fair thing to do is to assume Boston will be better as well. It will be interesting to see.

I think this is a great characterization of things:

The Jordan/Pippen comparisons don't fit IMO, although they are fun to play with. The real sports comparison is Jeter/A-Rod.

DWade is the career franchise player with the polished image that has already won a title without the other guy; beloved by the hometown team and has the leadership qualities of a champion (Jeter). Lebron is the more-talented, image-consious-but-image-damaged star without the leadership qualities; jumps from city to city looking for a title; never to be fully embraced by the city. (A-Rod)

Now if we can just get Lebron to illegally slap the ball out of Paula Pierce's hands on a sidelines out of bounds play in Game 7 of the Eastern Conf. Finals, then the comparison would be complete.

Didn't the Cavs "expose" the Lakers twice last year? How'd that work out in the playoffs? A game against the Lakers is the same as a game against the Raptors in the regular season.

The difference is the Lakers can cruise through the regular season. Phil has 11 rings, Kobe has 5 and the rest of the team have 2. Team's fear them come playoff time, in clutch moments they crumble against them because they don't think they can out-heart Kobe and out-smart Phil.

Team's don't fear the Heat now, they've seen them lose to most teams with winning records and Bosh and Lebron have a reputation for being like limp dicks in the playoffs. Boston and Magic won't fear them in the East, even the next teir teams will fancy their chances across 7 games. He leads them on and off the court. The first day of practice, I remember hearing an interview of all the Heat players talking about how much they couldn't believe LBJ was talking during practice about how to get better at certain things. Everyone in that locker thought Wade would be the outspoken leader during practices but instead it was LeBron. Every single offseason he has worked to improve a facet of his game and year after year you see a dramatic change in that part of his game. When the best player in the NBA works his ass off to get better, that sends a message to his teammates and the rest of the entire league.

A-Rod was never going to be the leader of that team and he knew it. LeBron already is the leader going from these first 30 games.

The point is, the head-to-head regular season matchups has little to no effect on the outcome of the playoffs. I just can't knock the heat for not establishing a dominance 30 games into a 6 year run. They'll have plenty of chances, including tomorrow night against the Lakers. I'm not going to judge early season losses when they've never played together before.
