The Denver Post repots the Broncos are planning to offer free agent Peyton Manning a contract worth roughly $60 million over five seasons.
An "NFL source" also confirms Manning has narrowed his choices to Denver and Tennessee. The Broncos' offer would include $30 million guaranteed, "give or take." It's reportedly the same contract parameters the Titans are working off of. According to the Post, the Broncos could "sweeten their offer, or lock in their guarantee" if they are satisfied with Manning's Friday workout today.

Mort reports Manning worked out for Niners coach Jim Harbaugh this week, and took a physical. San Francisco is believed to have joined the Broncos and Titans as finalists for Manning's services. The news goes a long way toward explaining why the Niners have been dragging their feet on what was presumed to be a done deal with in-house free agent Alex Smith. Mort's colleague Adam Schefter also confirmed Friday the Cardinals have been "advised that they are to proceed as if they will not get (Manning)."

Yeah, even as a Titans fan, I agree with this completely. SF's a SB contender without Manning and could be the favorite with him.

I won't be as upset if he signs there as if he does with Denver, simply cause I don't see what Denver offers over us minus a weaker division.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the San Francisco 49ers have emerged as one of the three finalists to sign free agent quarterback Peyton Manning.

The other two teams are the Denver Broncos and Tennessee Titans. According to Schefter, the Arizona Cardinals “have been advised that they are to proceed as if they will not get Peyton Manning.”

We already knew the Dolphins were out.

Schefter, who broke the 49ers news on SportsCenter early Friday afternoon, reported that San Francisco secretly sent club officials to watch Manning throw at Duke University on Tuesday night. The 49ers’ representatives were said to be “very impressed with what they saw.”

The Niners have already given Manning a physical.

And this explains whey they haven’t re-signed free agent quarterback Alex Smith yet.

Peyton Manning reportedly works out for 49ers' Harbaugh

A surprise suitor has entered the sweepstakes for four-time MVP Peyton Manning's services: the San Francisco 49ers.

NFL Network's Michael Lombardi confirmed an ESPN report that Manning was evaluated by 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Greg Roman on Tuesday, though it was not reported exactly where the meeting took place. ESPN also reported that the 49ers had Manning undergo a medical examination on Wednesday.

Until Friday, it had been assumed that only four teams were seriously in the hunt for Manning, including the Denver Broncos, Tennessee Titans, Miami Dolphins and Arizona Cardinals.

ESPN reports that the Cardinals have been advised that they are no longer a consideration to become Manning's next team.

On Friday, Broncos officials, including John Elway, traveled to North Carolina, to watch Manning work out. Manning is also expected to work out for the Titans. On Wednesday, Manning met with Titans officials in Nashville for nearly seven hours.

Most recently, NFL Network's Michael Lombardi had reported that Manning's decision would come down to the Titans and Broncos.

Niners quarterback Alex Smith recently became a free agent, despite reportedly being close to signing a three-year deal to return to the team.

The 49ers are looking to upgrade their wide receivers during free agency, having already signed Randy Moss to a one-year deal. The team also hosted free-agent recievers Mario Manningham and Brandon Lloyd on Thursday

I'm gonna love it when Flynn goes somewhere else. It would serve you all right for disrespecting Matt Moore the way you have. Dude played great down the stretch and now he's going to see a guy with two career starts gets paid and have the job handed to him.

Which is a fucking retarded way to think/want seeing as how MOST Dolphins fans loved what Matt Moore did. I know I have talked highly about him multiple times on VSD when other have not. If Dolphins do not get Matt Flynn, oh well because I have seen what Matt Moore is capable of and it is impressive. Matt Flynn could add a whole new dynamic, however, and if he succeeds, so will the Dolphins.
