Others already said it but if the Colts draft Luck, they should definitely keep Manning. Luck being Manning's under study would do wonders for him. At the end of the day Luck is still only a prospect. The Colts trading Manning and then throwing Luck out there next year would be a disaster. This team is awful, even if they traded Manning and got several draft picks, they would still have a ways to go.

Personally, I'd trade out of the first pick to someone who wants Luck and then try and build the team up a bit. Manning can take a below average team to the playoffs, Luck won't be able to. If Manning can get healthy again, he's still got 3 years or so left and I'm sure another top QB prospect will come around.

People act like Luck is going to come in and just be this good player. He won't. He probably won't even end up being as good as Peyton is. This season shows how important Peyton is to that team and just how valuable he really is. If you can even get 2 more years out of Peyton, you do it. Especially if they can trade that number 1 pick, get some guys, this team is a contender again in 2013.

But hey, lets draft an unproven QB and put him on an 0-16 team when we've got a legend already here. I understood the Lions doing it after we went 0-16, but the Colts are addressing the wrong issue here.

Do you need the "greatest prospect" since John Elway to win in the NFL? Eh, Elway didn't win anything until Terrell Davis go there. They should trade the pick, fill the roster with the picks from the trade and bring in a young guy to groom later. We’ve seen what Dalton, Newton, Bradford, Flacco, Ryan, etc have done, so there are a host of guys who can play and be productive regardless of draft hype.

Absolutely not. For one, you can do it with a guy like Andrew Dalton at this point. For two, there are 4 or 5 other great QB prospects available in this draft.

If Indy really wants to draft an eventual successor to Peyton this year, there are a few to choose from. They could trade down, collect a ton of extra picks, reload for Peyton's final run and still end up with Landry Jones or Matt Barkley for the future.

But I guess being dictated by the Todd McShays of the world makes perfect sense too.

What's the bigger risk for the franchise? Trading Peyton for picks and players to rebuild for the future around Luck or trading Luck to try to get one more SB with Peyton?

I mean do you guys really think the Colts can go from winless to a Super Bowl just because of Manning? I don't see how drafting Luck to sit behind Manning is a good idea when the team has so many holes to fill. If you keep Manning, you keep him to win a Super Bowl NOW and to do that I think the Colts definitely need to trade Luck.

NAHSTE got it right. They need to trade the #1 pick to a team like the Seahawks, Chiefs, or Dolphins and stack up on picks and players. They will still have a top 10 pick from either of those teams that they trade with, which they can use to draft Matt Barkley or Landry Jones. Then Barkley or Jones can be the guy that sits and learns from Manning to take over the team in 3-5 years.

I trade the pick for a boat load of picks, take Barkley, Griffin, Jones or Wilson and build around those guys. I'm not as enamored with Luck as most are. So I'm right there with ya Nahste

Not going to happen. Manning is due 30 million in march if he is on the roster. nobody is going to absorb that kind of financial risk for a 36 year old quarterback who just sat a season out because his neck is so damaged it risked paralysis, like his older brother Cooper.

The colts will either cut him or keep him, the trade is fiscally impossible with the way his new contract is setup.

Rebuilding for the future obviously. You got teams that have been rebuilding for the future for years. You have to buy into the hype that Luck is a sure thing to believe otherwise.
