More & more irks me about this case. Particularly Olberman's rant last night. People kept saying no one else was a victim here but the wife.

Agreed. I had Ray Rice as my #4 RB on my fantasy team...I am also a victim here.

Like I said on Monday...what did Goodell know and when did he know it? This is a pretty damning turn of events if somebody in the league office is confirming receipt of the video back in April on a voice mail message.

AP Newsbreak: Source says Rice video sent to NFL

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — A law enforcement official says he sent a video of Ray Rice punching his then-fiancee to an NFL executive three months ago, while league officers have insisted they didn't see the violent images until this week.

The person played The Associated Press a 12-second voicemail from an NFL office number on April 9 confirming the video arrived. A female voice expresses thanks and says: "You're right. It's terrible."

The law enforcement official, speaking to the AP on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation, says he had no further communication with any NFL employee and can't confirm anyone watched the video. The person said they were unauthorized to release the video but shared it unsolicited, because they wanted the NFL to have it before deciding on Rice's punishment.

The NFL has repeatedly said it asked for but could not obtain the video of Rice hitting Janay Palmer — who is now his wife — at an Atlantic City casino in February.

The league says it has no record of the video, and no one in the league office had seen it until TMZ released it. When asked about the voicemail Wednesday, NFL officials repeated their assertion that no league official had seen the video before Monday.

The person said he sent a DVD copy of the security camera video to an NFL office and included his contact information. He asked the AP not to release the name of the NFL executive, for fear that the information would identify the law enforcement official as the source.

It sounds like the NFLPA is going to file an appeal once they receive notification of a suspension from the NFL. The argument will be an indefinite suspension is not warranted under the league's revamped domestic violence policy. Between this appeal and the NFL botching this whole thing this story will be around for awhile.

She hit him in the hallway. Hits him again in the elevator. He pushes her hand away. He backs away. She tries to hit him again. He snaps. I figured something like this had happened all along for the authorities to not press charges.

If she didn't hit, she wouldn't have got hit. If you don't wanna get hit, don't start hitting.

But then Olberman begins to throw doubts at the genuineness of her statements in the aftermath of Ray's indefinite suspension. Suggesting she is a battered wife who has no idea what she is saying. Someone who is incapable of coming up w/her own independent thought. In his phony "defense" of her he is actually belittling her. It's insulting.

Its like none of the commentators on this subject want to believe that what the Rice's said was actually true. That this was a one time incident that went completely out of control. That they do love each other & are not violent w/each other.

You are kidding of course... I mean you would have to be to say asinine stuff like this... I mean, this is a joke, not a funny or good one, but a joke right? I would think with a name like "the Brain" intelligence would be your forte. Unless of course the lower case T in the word "the" means you may have misspelled your given name. If that is the case then all has been explained...

BTW... Janay should have been charged with assault. I agree with KoF on that. But Ray needed to be man, and restrain her or get away, I mean he can't keep a 120 lb woman from hurting him without knocking her out? And that woman in heels can out run him? Ray made a bad choice and he should pay for it, she made a bad choice too... and got paid for it.

Bullshit. There is no winning for a man in this situation. It's not easy to physically restrain somebody who is trying to harm you without hurting them. Also if we continue to push for equality for women then that includes them having agency and accepting consequences for their actions like adults. Very few men would hit Ray Rice for fear of getting their head caved in. A woman will hit Ray Rice because she believes her vagina will shield her from the consequences. We need to stop treating women like they are children without consequences and cases like these will diminish greatly. You can't want equality and special treatment at the same time.

I don't think the majority are condoning what Rice did. Just pointing out that they were both acting like idiots that night. She caught the worst of it, and by no means deserved to be knocked unconscious, but they were both hitting each other.
