He decided to pander to public pressure and failed. Now the truth everyone knows is out and the truth everyone should have known (NFL doesnt really give a shit about domestic violence) is even more apparent.

Any adult simply hitting any other adult is a crime regardless of gender or context.

I agree with KOF. These are both adults. Should Rice be brought up on charges of aggravated battery? Absolutely.

But there's clearly a two sided confrontation here. You guys are calling on Rice to show restraint, but I feel like that pendulum swings both ways. They're both adults, and both subject to the same laws. There's nothing under the definition of assault in the penal code that makes any specifications about weight class or gender.

As far as the league side of things, it's obvious the video makes these issues harder to ignore. The NFL isn't dumb though so I wouldn't be surprised if Hardy and McDonald were both made examples of just to show that the league is REALLY taking these issues seriously now.

There is a thing called proportional response. Rice was in no danger of being hurt by his fiance pushing him. For him to uppercut her like that is unjustifiable. She could have easily been killed when her head struck the hand rail in the elevator.

Rice must go now. Then we need to know what did the commissioner know and when did he know it.

I agree with the proportional response and that Rice is in the wrong. But if (IF) she hit him in the hallway and tried to hit him in the elevator, then she also becomes a perpetrator and not a victim. I don't want to speak for Brain, but I think his point of view is that they both were wrong and if she hit him, I happen to agree. We can't justify women assaulting people just because they are women. Now if she did not hit him in the hallway, and she didn't try and hit him in the elevator, then she is purely a victim.

I don't know how we get to the point of hitting people........that's what is so shameful about this. Both people are at fault, but instead of placing blame on one or the other, both need to face blame. Why did this even happen? They all have their own personal responsibility to act civilized.

More & more irks me about this case. Particularly Olberman's rant last night. People kept saying no one else was a victim here but the wife. Ok. I've made my opinion made known on that. But then Olberman begins to throw doubts at the genuineness of her statements in the aftermath of Ray's indefinite suspension. Suggesting she is a battered wife who has no idea what she is saying. Someone who is incapable of coming up w/her own independent thought. In his phony "defense" of her he is actually belittling her. It's insulting.

Its like none of the commentators on this subject want to believe that what the Rice's said was actually true. That this was a one time incident that went completely out of control. That they do love each other & are not violent w/each other.
