That looks like a damn solid card to me im interested in 4 of the 5 main card fights, unlike that snooze fest i watched a few weeks back featuring Griffin and Silva. I was bored most of the night on that one.

UFC 104 will be the best card that they've put together since UFC 100 (and possibly the best we'll see until Dec), so I'm not sure if you really meant 103 and pasted the wrong fights or if you're really referring to the 104 card. 103 is the card the UFC should be worried about, I'd expect about 300k out of that. 104 on the other hand is a great card top to bottom, plus it's being held in LA so there'll be extra hype and appeal because of that.

If 104 did below 200k I think we'd really have to question exactly how much the sport has truly grown if no one is interested in buying that. I'm expecting 500-600k from that PPV.

I think W2B is talking more from a draw perspective and he might be right, but I think he might be underestimating the Machida Karate fan base, this Card will see if the Machida Karate Man marketing has worked

NHB and MMA have pretty much killed the Karate man over the years, destroyed all there fantasies, but now they have Machida, when Machida wins Black Belt magazine and all those people go nuts, they have a new hero which is funny because without BJJ, Wrestling, etc...Machida would be tapped out in the first round, but anyway that’s no my point

The UFC needs to really ramp up the ads in Black Belt, Kung Fu and whatever the traditional Martial Arts guy reads

i agree. more free cards with lesser name guys would be a good thing. gain these guys more exposure and leave PPV's with all the big-name fights. I think Machida alone is enough to carry this PPV to decent numbers. After his fight with Rashad he definitely turned into a must-see fighter. Personally i'm looking forward to seeing Rumble Johnson, who IMO is one of the best most exciting up and comers in the sport today, and Rothwell's debut but outside of them and of course the main event the rest of the card is meh.

We both know its all about the MONEY. More free shows with some of these younger guys would be great tho. I could've swore Dana promised MORE free shows a couple years back, it feels like we've actually gotten less. Maybe im wrong about that.. just how it feels.

The good thing about competition is we will see more free shows in the future, sucks when they are on at the same time, but is great when you have a DVR and can record both

Agreed.. 6 fight nights a year is very easy to fulfil IMO. They wouldnt even have to do free PPVs like they usually do aslong as there is a good amount of free fights.

And there is no way that they do 500-600k with that lineup. I'm expecting European numbers.

Personalities sell fights, not fight quality.

102 has Randy, I think he can carry that show to about 500k, even with a non drawing opponent. The advance is mediocre, they won't sell out. 10k sold for a 19,000 setup. People don't care enough about Nog.

103 is interesting because it goes head to head with PBF. Franklin is a marginal draw at best. The free undercard on Spike will help, and it's something they should always do. It's essentially a one hour commercial for the PPV. I think anything over 300k should be considered a win.

104 has nothing, unless I am underestimating Machida. Foreigners who don't speak english are generally weak draws (i.e. Anderson Silva), no matter how great they perform. Nothing on the undercard will help. Whatever 104 does will be the new low level of what they can do. If UFC 100 & the videogame have created new fans, this show will be the proof, because it truly has nothing except the letters "UFC" going for it.

sidenote-A very strong "Countdown" show for any of these shows changes everything, but I dont see how Machida and Shogun can successfully hype a fight since they are both Brazilian.

The bottom line, is these three shows will go a long way to showing just how powerful UFC is right now if they somehow pull big numbers. I just dont see it, especially for 104.

I was just going to say, 102, 103 and 104 wont be big, I dont really know much many people are going to buy 102, there doesnt seem to be to much hype about it

They wont have a big PPV until Brock fights again on 106, just to many PPVs

105 will be 'big' because its free and its BJ/Diego, everyone watches free UFC fights, but that wouldnt be a big PPV either
