Urban Meyer Accepts Ohio State Job

Seeing that now most Florida fans and Gainesville people feel betrayed and butthurt I'd expect them to release some information now, No?
A long time ago FT posted a laundry list of arrest and off the field issues, but no media scource ever seems to run with these stories.

Like ESPN would when they gave Meyer a job.

Same reason ESPN doesn't call out Craig James for his bullshit and still allows that walking bag of ass on the air.

We aren't talking about "shadiness" here. We are talking about a human being with little, if any, moral scruples.

Let's review some of Urban's finer moments at UF:

- flagged Patrick Peterson's SAT score to the clearinghouse, out of spite for Peterson choosing LSU over Florida. Peterson is eventually cleared, but not until he missed all of fall practice.
- reinstated Marcus Thomas for a suspension the Friday before the 2006 LSU game, kicks him off the team the next Tuesday.
- Suspends a player caught on camera attempting to physically maim an opposing player for one quarter. After much outrage, he agrees to extend the punishment a whole other quarter.
- Total number of players arrested during Florida tenure: 26
-Total number of players kicked off of Florida's team in that span: 2 (Marcus Thomas being one, the other being the guy who stole a teammate's girlfriend's credit card THE SAME DAY SHE DIED and began running up charges.)

This is the same guy who refused to kick Cam Newton off the team after felony theft and three counts ofcademic cheating, refused to kick Chris Rainey off the team after threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend, etc.

All I'm saying is that if these are the issues (probably not a strong enough word for you and FT) then why are most of colleges willing to throw their entire program at him? None of these incidents seem to prevent him from being the most highly coveted coach in college football. Why don't these issues stick? Besides, him being a scumbag doesn't seem to have prevented him from being an elite recruiter and winner.

Why are you making assumptions?
When did I say he had values based on what the media reports?

All I'm saying is if these issues that you and FT keep bringing up are so terrible then why aren't they being more widely reported and why aren't programs looking in other directions for a HC.

I believe most of the elite coaches have their issues, as that is the landscape of big boy college football.

Although winning can only take you so far....if things get so bad I'd think the media would report as the media makes their money off of reporting scandal.

It has been widely reported. Everyone knows the number of arrests, it was mentioned a great deal last season. As for why programs aren't looking in other directions, well, because Ohio State is prioritizing winning games over integrity. Can't say it's the first time they've done that.

It really hasn't been reported as much as you would like to think. Given the nature of the hire (OSU about to get sanctioned) reporting Meyer's accomlishments with his off the field issues would make even more sense.

If they were in the market I’m sure your and FT beloved LSU and ND would be more than willing to hire him. What is integrity in college football? CFB is about winning games and championships....if your coach is the epitome of integrity than that is nothing more but a plus.

its easy to name the ones who have been caught, most of those guys including Tressel were considered guys with good character and high morals. so really how do you know that most of the coaches aren't scumbags?

See, this really doesn't matter, because ND would gladly throw everything including Touchdown Jesus to get him. And they've tried before. And also tried to make a run at him in '09 but then the health issues/leave of absence situation came into play.

and second of all, even if it were true, Meyer would still be among the MOST scummy. If that's the type of man you want to represent your program, by all means.

Randy Shannon graduated his players & never had his players having off-field incidents...but his teams sucked ass so he got canned. Its all about winning.

Also, I don't really believe that. You can make a statement like that all you want but I think people inherently have an easier time rooting for "good" people. This situation for the most part isn't about ignoring whether someone is an upstanding citizen or not, it's about cheering for laundry. People put blinders on to shittiness in that situation because it's "their" team, not because they are rooting just for football and winning, IMO.
