As much as I hate Miles and LSU, this is true.

And I hope Meyer does get the job; he's a much better coach than he is a commentator, that's for sure.

If Meyer was available and LSU had a vacancy for their HC, they would go after him as well.

Huge LOL at this. Obviously he is a great coach, there's no denying that. He'll be a great fit at Ohio State, and they'd be lucky to get him. But I think it's interesting that all the jobs he's been linked with have been Big Ten schools or Notre Dame. Possibly just because he is a midwestern guy, or maybe because his negative stench is less prominent in the non-southern media. I don't know, but most SEC fans consider him bad news, and most ADs and school presidents would probably concur. Thirty arrests in five years is not really something you can explain away.

You make it seem as if it's an automatic that ANY big time program has to call Urban Meyer FIRST, or else they risk not signing the greatest coach alive. Pretty sure LSU would be able to fill the vacancy just fine without ever considering that douche. Gary Patterson would probably be the first call, then Muschamp or Pelini, then two or three other guys, none named Urban Meyer.

I'm not talking about discipline. I'm talking about his reputation for perpetual oversigning (Granted not anywhere near Nick Saban territory), pulling scholarships from kids at the last minute, telling recruits that opposing coaches were ill and dying to try and land them, etc.

Miles is a great disciplinarian and I respect that, but a champion of moral character and integrity he is not.

There have been a couple non-midwestern schools that have expressed interest in him in the past couple of months alone... UCLA, UGA (Back when Richt's hot-seat was scorching), Texas (linked to Mack Brown retirement rumors), and Arizona for example. Obviously most of those aren't really realistic (In terms of him wanting the jobs, outside of Texas), but there's definitely interest in him at schools not in the Big Ten and not named Notre Dame.

Typical NAHSTE fashion to twist words around when we're discussing something he doesn't like. If LSU had a vacancy, and Meyer was available, they would definitely contact Meyer and pursue him. There really isn't much room for debate on that one. The rest of your statement is just putting words in my mouth, obviously they would be able to fill the job just fine, but if Meyer was available they would definitely contact him.

In the booster/agent riddled world of college football, almost every coach you examine is going to have skeletons in his closet, and Urban is no exception to that obviously.

But the man is as good of a coach as you're going to find in the FBS. He's a Buckeye at heart, and understands the traditions at Ohio State and how important The Game is. He's been dreaming of coaching here for decades, I mean he teared up the first time he got to touch an Ohio State jersey as an assistant coach, he has a picture of Woody Hayes in his office.

It's just a great fit.

Since the 04-05 season ND has had nothing to do with Meyer. I know that for a fact. This last hiring process he wasn't even a consideration for a multitude of reasons. Every single person I spoke to inside the Ath Dept, at any media outlet in South Bend, any player or former player having anything to do with team said Meyer was never an option and was never even contacted.
