Solid workrate, but it just never got going. Lost me at points, could have eliminated a few redundant spots, felt like a never ending series of restholds. Can't call it bad, but it never reeled me in. Flat finish.

From what I hear, that sounds like real marriage.

Loved it, showed the Gervais/Merchant team can make the step up to Movies from TV. Ignore all the other Ricky Gervais movies, in those it's either just appearing in a cameo role or he's just starring in it and largely just reading other peoples lines. Gervais is more of a writer/director anyway, and Merchant always brings that humanity to Gervais more brutal comedy, and seems to just produce quality (the Office, Extras, Karl Pilkington and so forth).

Even though, obviously, I didn't grow up in 1970's England, the basic gist of it I could relate to being from a small dead end town in NZ that is still dominated by the freezing works, the port and agriculture.

Even if you can't relate to the story and the accents, well worth it alone for the performance of Tom Hughes (guy in the middle of the poster). If he isn't a star both in England and the States getting nominated for Oscars within 10 years i'll eat my hat.

yeah I loved Blue Valentine myself, one positive thing about it was it portrayed what real marriage seems to be like and isn't some candy coated hollywood love story.

6/10. It was an alright movie, good performances by both Gosling and Dunst. It is based off the real life crime case of Robert Dunst and the disappearance of his wife Kathleen, and the murders of his best friend Susan Berman (who supposedly knew what really happened to his wife), and his neighbor Morris Black. Obviously none of the characters in the movie go by the real names though.

"All Good Things" is the name of a store he and his wife owned in the 70's.

Tinker Tailor - I read the book directly before watching it so that obviously had a huge impact on how I viewed it. I really liked it overall, especially Oldman who was fantastic. Despite some unnecessary changes that didn't even simplify the story, just change it I thought it captured the atmosphere and pacing pretty well. They certainly could have spent another 10-15 minutes developing the supporting characters though.

7.5/10 It is between that rating I gave and a 8. I thought all the characters really gave great performances, especially Giamatti and Gosling. It definitely was something that was able to hold my attention from beginning to end, especially when Evan Rachel Wood came on the screen.

they got a Step Up 4 coming out too...ugh. Figured they would have stopped by now, but I guess they're more successful than I imagined. Speaking of movie series that need to stop, they're making a Scary Movie 5.

I hate Channing Tatum probably more than most people, but hes good in the first Step Up. Its a very fun romance movie. This is coming from someone who fucking hates dance/singing movies as well.

Whats funny is that fucking faggot from the 2nd movie made me not watch that one because hes a total tool. At least Tatum tries to choose diverse films.
