LSU beating Alabama doesn't conclusivly prove that they are the better team. One game. Anything can happen. It just means based on what we have seen LSU is the better team. You have to accept that result and move on. In the end we are looking for a conclusion to the season. LSU vs Bama serves no purpose because if LSU wins: Previous conclusion confirmed. If Alabama wins...no conclusion at all. Split.

Ok St obviously has an argument..and a stronger one than Alabama if they win Saturday. OK St beating LSU, who beat Alabama would be a strong enough conclusion for most anyone with a brain stem. If LSU wins no one else really ahas an argument...except Houston I guess...and we've been through that before with Boise and Utah.

On the real though, I'd like to see Okie St. win and see what the voters do. The only other matchup I'd be okay with is a LSU/Okie St. matchup, but that's it.

Yeah now that I think about it, I lied. A rematch would probably be preferable to VT. Houston would still have a say in this in a perfect world, but since it's not I guess rematch it is should Okie State lose.

Va Tech lost to Clemson by 20 points, and will only have won the ACC due to avenging that loss in a hated rematch fluke that we have railed against so fervently. And they played a poopdick schedule, with their 2nd most impressive win being (I guess) Arkansas State ...

Oklahoma State would actually be a great match up though. Miles-Gundy story lines, Les's former team, the top 5 draft pick match up between Blackmon and Claiborne, offense vs. defense, etc.

You can't not fap to that game if you just like football, IMO. The rematch will be fun for two fan bases, and little else. If the Cowboys beat Oklahoma we'll at least have a viable alternative.

This is just like the 06 season. #1 vs #2, and a close game..Michigan stayed at #2 but then was jumped by Florida. The reasoning? Because Michigan had their shot against Ohio St and since they did not even win their conference, how could they have a shot at the National Championship? That year it was clear that Michigan and Ohio St were the best teams in the nation, but it didnt mean shit.

If Okie St beats Oklahoma they should play for the NC. Same record as Alabama, but the only difference is they would be conference champions. You can throw who the loss was against away at that point, because thats all that really matters.

In 75, the #2 team did not lose their bowl game. They won. But I'll admit Bama didn't get robbed this season; not sure what I was thinking.

In 77, Notre Dame was not #3. They were #5, and their only loss was to a 5-6 team that Alabama destroyed. Alabama was #3 before the bowl games. 1 and 2 lost, then #5 jumps ahead of Alabama by destroying Texas, even though Bama destroyed #9 OSU 35-6 in their bowl game(and had a 21-20 victory over then #1-USC previously that season).

Found the discrepancy. Oklahoma beat Nebraska in their final week. Then a week later #2 A&M lost. There was no other polls between then and the Orange Bowl apparently because the Sooners site has them listed at #3 heading into the Orange Bowl. Either way. Theory stands.
