Really, what do any of us know about short-track speedskating?

I love how we're all experts (I include myself) at sports we know nothing about every four years.

From what I've seen, if you have so much as a hand on a person that goes down, 9 times out of 10 you're getting DQ'd. On the other hand, you can pretty much shove a person out of the way and as long as they don't go down, it's considered a clean pass. See: Hamelin pushing Apolo in one of the earlier races in the Olympics.

I'd just like to see some consistency between disqualifications.

Who cares? He has eyeballs, that's all he really needs. It's not like it's that complex of a sport. I know exactly what he's talking about because I've watched all of the speed-skating events of every Olympics and there are clearly inconsistencies in stuff like that. It's just like ANY sport where there is obvious human error involved.

Enough to not blindly ignore the obvious inconsistencies between DQ's.

Short track speedskating is a lot like NASCAR racing, and I've watched that all my life. The end of a race is going to be tightly contested, and pushing and shoving is to be expected. Apolo had a small hole and it was the last corner of the last lap. He went for it, the Canadian pinched him (and rightfully so), and Apolo put his hand on the Candian's back to try and avoid any major contact. The Canadian fell. That's what happened.

I say let them race. As long as there aren't any blatantly obvious pushes, don't DQ anyone.

The Canadian has the right to the inside lane as he was on that line first, therefore the American is DSQ. It's not rocket science, you just can't do that.

Well tomorrows game will have a little bit of history in it if Canada pulls out the win.

its ok, its not like Apolo Ohno got DQ'd for doing the exact same thing that got Canada's skater a gold, thereby giving another Canadian the silver...o wait. At least it wasn't a Canadian judge that made the ruling because that would just reek of bias...oops

Must suck to root for the Seahawks.

It would be huge - guys like Tim Gleason, Chris Drury, Brooks Orpik etc are not in the same league as far as ability, talent, and skill go as their canadian counterparts.

It's an upset if the U.S. wins, but not a monumental upset.
The U.S. has a good team and a great goalie.
This is not 1980 where a bunch of college kids beat the Russians.
The Americans are a legit hockey team, but don't have the depth Canada has.
Ryan Miller is a much better goalie than Luongo though, so I am worried.
It will be fun to watch.
I actually don't hate the U.S. hockey players ... they are Canada Jr. They play just like us, are good guys and are honourable.
