[360] Xbox 360 Gamer Scores Being Wiped

Many Xbox 360 users have had their gamerscores and games lists erased.

Microsoft's @xboxsupport Twitter account is being flooded with tweets complaining about the issue, and has responded: "we're aware of some of the gamer score issues at this time, and we're looking into it. Thanks so much for your patience!"

The Xbox support Twitter has asked gamers to try signing out of their profile, and back in to see if this resolves the solution. Some Twitter users are reporting a drop in their gamerscores, rather than a total wipe.

I think a lot do.......but most of them are probably kids and teenagers. I know some people compete to have the highest gamer-score in the world......which is borderline insane.

I used to look at achievements when i first got my xbox but now there are so many it that they have lost my interest. I just want to enjoy a game and beat it.

I know I play NCAA football the most out of all my games...100s of hours....I think my score for that game is like 140 or some shit...:joeybats:

I was into them when I first had the system and also when I worked at a video game store and we could "try out" any game. I was a total Gamerscore whore then.

These days if I get them cool but I don't go out of my way to accomplish things to get them like I use to.

It's fun as a method to compete with some of my friends, particularly when the achievements are challenging or unique (Half-Life 2 Episode 1 for example had an achievement where you had to beat the game using only 1 bullet; while in Half-Life 2 Episode 2 there was a garden gnome you had to bring with you from beginning to end -- both were challenging, unique and fun). But overall, competing with a bunch of strangers is stupid. It's basically just like going for the best high score, but more silly because people literally buy or rent some games just for easy achievement points.

Sure I'd love to sit on my ass for 35 hours trying to accomplish some impossible task in a game I don't even like....all to add 40 to my 23423624368 sized score! My life is awesome.

No direct offence to anyone, but I really think you have issues if this type of activity is relevant in your life. Life should hold more value than to delve into doing shit like this.

I think achievements give me an extra incentive to do things I wouldn't normally do. Such as collect things. I never really care about the actual gamerscore, I do feel the need to 100% a game.

I like to look at people's trophies before I accept random friend requests to see if they have a similar taste in games. I don't really care what trophies they actually unlock very much.

My friend rented Avatar: The Last Airbender because you can get 1000 achievement points in the first like, 5 minutes. It's pretty sad sometimes, but I think at it's core it's pavlovian. I would be lying if I said that pop didn't get me a little excited. And likewise there are times on 360 where a friend logs on just as it is at a moment where an achivement would be unlocked, and I sort of feel like "aww".

Some people just take shit like that too far though, it's a little sad. It was like this kid in middle school that I knew that literally cried and stormed off because something happened to the Ms. Pac-Man machine that he had the high score on. Weird, weird stuff.

Well if you get something for beating a game, beating it on hard, sure. But to play a game for points? Not cause you're interested in said game? That's fucked up. To play a game for 100+ hours to get a single achievement that isn't about completing a game? That's fucked up.

And while there are people that crazy, I've always completed a game as I normally would then check out some potentially achievable achievements and go back and maybe replay levels to try and get them.

It's just extra replay value for me over crazed madness to try and get 1000 on a game.

The main reason why I enjoy trophies/achievements is because it adds replay value to my games. I honestly feel like I'm getting my money's worth, IMO.

Some people beat a game and are done with it, I beat it and go back to find treasures or to get that 30th kill with my M9 (just using Uncharted as an example). Anyway, you get the point...

As for GS, I honestly don't even know what my score is. I know it was 80k + or something. I just like getting the cheevo pop notification and comparing my cheevos in a game to my friends.

I'm actually more into trophies now than cheevos though. I like the chime better and I like the leveling system much better. I know I'm in the minority though.

I actually find it funny when listening to so many professional games journalists saying "I usually get the 360 version of a game because I like achievements more." Really? Why? They never have a reason or argument to support the statement though. The only things I don't like about the trophy system is how delayed some of them are in popping. Did I get it for smashing that zombies face in or for running the one over ten seconds ago. Also, synching trophies is a joke.

I just always assumed it was because Sony was so late to the achievement/trophy thing. Either way, regardless of the reason meta-game rewards are a terrible reason to choose between versions of a game.
