Showtime did have an issue. Strikeforce tried to move the card to October and Showtime said no. Zuffa obviously didn't want to delay this trainwreck any further, so they did what they had to do for September.

Rob, what you are saying makes no sense. Why would SF not want Overeem involved? Of course they would prefer him in it, that's why they tried to book October instead!

You are reaching with your Zuffa bias. The GP has had issues since long before Zuffa was involved. If Coker booked a Super Bowl party you'd end up at his house in April watching the game on tape.

Lets' do a simple equation

Coker + Showtime + Barnett = Delayed 2 months for Barnett

Zuffa + Showtime + Overeem = Overeem out and month a head of what the original plan is

So, what is the difference? Zuffa of course, Showtime doesnt care about a delay, they have delayed the GP and the Super Six several times, this is just zuffa trying to get these fights over with and end the Showtime contract

So, if you're a true fight fan, would you rather see Cormier vs Big Foot in the GP or wait 1 maybe 2 months for Overeem vs Big Foot? I think it's an easy choice if you cared about the GP

That's why I don't understand how Warner or Empire keeps blaming Showtime, Showtime has a history of dealing with delays for the fights they want, in MMA and Boxing, when Coker was running SF he has delayed shows for the fights they want, the only difference now is Zuffa runs SF, if you can't see that you are just blind

So, when in doubt, blame Zuffa

Yeah I think Zuffa would like for this tournament to be done as quickly as possible and then to be able to vulture the meat of the guys they want for their own mediocre heavyweight division in the UFC, and that includes THE REEM, or else he would've just been simply cut.

Because there is no history of that in Showtime, you really think Showtime who has been in boxing forever would expect a guy to take a fight less than 3 months from his last fight? lol, it doesnt work like that

Let me tell you what happened, the UFC has 2 events in october already, so than there is only 2 staurdays left in oct, Showtime probably has those dates for boxing already filled, so they came back with sept and november, it would have been in Oct if zuffa wasnt in charge, because they dont care about competing UFC's when is was coker

So now zuffa goes, ok, will do it in september instead of waiting for november because we want this GP over with, that's were it comes from
