Ok, got ya. I was actually confused myself not long ago which is why I figured it needed clarification. I scored the GTA/GTA2/GTA:London PS1 package on Ebay a while back. I was pondering popping them in and playing through them since I hadn't played them in so long and someone had pointed out that you can't really "play through" the first game as it didn't really have a story, just racking up a score.

    Nice pick with inFamous too.

I'm not at my computer to see my list but I don't think either of those game types remain on my list

Great choice with Infamous. Thought it would be higher on the list though.

                  Half-life

                  Platform: PC/PS2

Wow to think that this game was pretty much the beginning of a lot of FPS’s. I understand Doom, Duke Nukem and Wolfenstein came before Half-life but Half-life actually gave FPS’s a story, puzzles and keeping the player involved even through cut-scenes.

I luckily had a PC good enough to run Half-life when it debuted but I knew a lot of friends who would come over for hours just to watch me play. This game was pretty damn groundbreaking for the time. The story was amazing for the time and the action was top notch throughout the entire game. Some scenes were “disturbing” while some were funny. It was the first time I was actually engrossed by a first person shooter. I was playing to complete the story and not to just shoot people in the head. Among other great things about this game, Dr. Gordon Freeman is an instantly recognizable name in video games mainly because the developers at valve made us care about his health and well being. The story isn’t the longest but the amount of expansions that came from this game is a amazing. The expansions are great but the community mods were even more so, especially the mod that took multiplayer gaming to the next level. That game is simply known as Counterstrike. Unfortunately I don’t wanna talk about Counterstrike just yet, you’ll find out why at a later date.

Please do not sleep on this game if you have never played it. The graphics may look lackluster today but you can get this game on steam for dirt cheap and it’s worth at least one play through. Hell the story and gameplay is better than a lot of shit videogame companies shove down our throats these days.

I remember playing Half-Life...it was a great game. The first time I played it, I would lead the scientists to their doom and laugh, but then near the end of the game I received a "Game Over" because I had allowed to many scientists to die. Funny.

                      Halo: Combat Evolved

                      Platform: Xbox/PC/Mac/Xbox 360

Now before you guys get your panties in a bunch hear me out about this one. Halo was a great single player mode and had a pretty good story but local only multiplayer was the reason I can’ keep this game higher on my list.

I understand that back in 2001 console multiplayer was still in its infancy and Halo was not ready for online multiplayer. The problem with that is split screen multiplayer is retarded unless is 1998 and you’re playing Goldeneye on the N64. Its rather unfortunate that this is the reason Halo is not higher on my list because it is as great game and started an almost billion dollar franchise. The story is pretty good and made Master Chief a household name. The gameplay set the standard for all console shooters but I highly doubt I could go back and play it again. I lost interest in the Halo franchise after the third one unfortunately. I’ll admit back in the day when this game came out I played the living shit out of it but even with the HD remake of the original I still don’t wanna play. Maybe I’ve outgrown the over the top elements of the shooter or I’ve been spoiled by Battlefield and Call of Duty. But Halo does deserve high praise for getting the Xbox on the map and laying the groundwork for how shooters should be done. They got everything right, sound, style and gameplay and to this day a lot of offline and online console shooters like to emulate Halo’s style. Congrats to the guys at Bungie.

I’m sure about 99 percent of this site has played Halo in some way shape or form and if you haven’t you need to get your ass in gear and at least get a taste of what this franchise has to offer. As always there is a video for the two of you who have never played or seen this game before.

Me and my buddies used to get together on the weekend or something and get like 3-4 Xbox's on the same home network and play that shit all day.

I was the minority among my friends. Not in the Point Blank way but everyone had a ps2 and i was the only one with an xbox so if we ever played it was all on my xbox and i hate splitscreen. Cheating ass fucks used to look at my screen.

Good stuff - keep it up. I have to admit a few things though. I haven't been much of a gamer the last 10-15 years other than sports games (NBA 2k10 - great choice). I didn't like Angry Birds when I tried it. I've never even heard of Skitchin'. Gran Turismo & GT2 were nice but it was GT3: A-Spec that had me hooked. Love that Pitfall made it - actually owned that back when it was initially released. I hope to see more games from the 2600 (doubt I will though).

We'd do the same thing. Many epic games of CTF on Blood Gulch.
