2 Top 100 Recruits commit early; DSC nabs 2 as well
Patrick Newby, #5 OLB, :4star:, 6'1" 230 LBS, Hoover/Alabama
Thomas Carrington, #5 DE, :4star:, 6'6" 219 LBS, Fairfaxe/Virginia
The recruiting year is underway for all teams, but a couple schools have already launched off the starting gate so to speak. 2 Top 100 rated high school players have giving a solid verbal commitment after just one week! The Texas Longhorns have signed an absolute STUD in 4 star Defensive End Thomas Carrington. With not only height and strengthm Carrington also has tremendous speed and will get the the quarterback everytime you don't fully get your hands on him. Kid is an absolute Freak. The Auburn Tigers joined the Longhorns in signing a recruit early. 4 star OLB Patrick Newby is from the great city of Hoover football and has elected to stay in state. Not to Alabama though as many would have thought. Auburn gets a sure tackler and a possible leader on defense.
Victor Brooks, #122 T, :2star:, 6'4" 334 LBS, Buckeye/Arizona
Charles Rushing, #104 DT, :2star:, 6'4" 265 LBS, Dallas/Texas
Coach Scolpa couldn't have asked for this good of a start to recruiting. "We are a new football program and very inexperienced, but kids really want to come here! This is just great and I hope our program can continue to recruit successfully through the year as well as off season". Signing positions that will be needed greatly next football season is huge for the Falcons. They get 2 star Tackle Victor Brooks and 2 star Defensive Tackle Charles Rushing. Rushing suffered an injury in his junior year and was downgraded from a four star to two after he did not live up to the hype. Falcons could possibly have gotten a steal here. Victor Brooks actually play Linebacker his Freshman year, but due to a lack of players on the O-line he switched over to help out. The kid is a team player and not to mention he has above average strength.Last edited by Rylo; 07-25-2009, 01:31 PM.

Falcons pull off first win!
Kyle Hadley is hoisted by his lead blocker Nick Harvey after a TD run
DeSean Williamson comes up with the failed pitch and runs it for a TD
Freshman MLB Nick Sigona looks on after making a stop in the backfield.
Summary:
This game was not pretty by any means, but hell, IT WAS A WIN! Not only was it the Falcons first win of the season, but obviously the first win of the schools football program. After a fast TD in the first the Falcons fell behind by 10 points and it looked to be another loss. That was until Kyle Hadley, freshman RunningBack, completely ran over the defense and scored a TD that may have changed the momentum of the game.
Hadley went over 120 yards for the 2nd straight game and his teammate at wide receiver, Ethan Woy, CONTINUES to make plays. He is a really impressive ball player. The other WR played very poorly today with 2 drops and only one catch. Villasmil said after the game "I don't know what happened. Our defense through me off with how bad they were sucking at one point. I'm a beast with these hands. You'll see".
Coach Scolpa after the game was ecstatic, but declined to comment to our reporters. He did, however, state at an official school press conference that he "Expects more wins like this. It will not be easy. Hell we may even finish under .500 for the first 2 years. It will take time, but we are off in the right track".
Daytona State will travel to Maryland to face an ACC opponent that scored 49 points the previous week. The Maryland Terps are at the same record as the Falcons, but boast a more star filled roster. Should be a great game.
Falcons Stats:
Offense
Kyle Hadley, HB- 29 Attempts for 130 yards. 1 TD
Airik Aldridge, QB- 14/25 for 190 yards, 2 INT's. Rushed 4 times for 25 yards and TD.
Ethan Woy, WR- 5 Catches for 80 yards.
Defense
Nick Signona, MLB- 8 Tackles, 2 TFL.
Andre Tippett, ROLB- 6 Tackles, 2TFL.
Homer Olsen, FS- 5 Tackles, 1 TFL.
Next Game:
vs 1-1 Maryland
