thanks loki. i feel that my defense needs to be holding teams to under 15 or 20 points a game, but as long as i win i don't really care :D. mccants was easy to stop, but katz was pretty hard. both of his interceptions came in the last minute or so of the game, and most of his incompletions came as he was trying to lead the beavers down for a last-second touchdown. he should have a lot better stats than he did, but im happy anyways.

Indiana's Great Defensive Play Leads to 34-24 Victory

Bloomington, IN - For the first time this season, Indiana's defense had a long period in which they showed the world why they are one of the top rated defenses in the country. They intercepted passes, ended drives with a three and out, and limited the Beaver's ball movement for almost an entire half.

Until the closing seconds of the 1st half, Indiana completely destroyed the 11th ranked Oregon State Beavers. The put up 21 points in just over 8 minutes of football, and held the Beavers to a measly 13 yards of total offense. And if Indiana hadn't given up 126 yards of total offense in less than a minute, this game could have been a complete blowout instead of a 10-point victory. "I feel proud of the way our team played today," said star quarterback Jammone Chester. "I sound like a coach, but our defense really stepped up its play today. I feel like so far this year I've been having to carry the load for our team, and it's nice to have a backup if we fail to put points on the board." Added Deleon Eskridge, who ran for 96 yards in a touchdown on 25 carries, "Earlier this year, I was worried because every time I went to the sidelines, I felt that the opposing team had a good chance of scoring. Now I see that our defense can stop the other team, and I feel a lot better about where this team is headed."

The defense was led by Tim Alexander, who had a career day with 17 tackles and 7 tackles for loss. He also now leads the NCAA in forced fumbles with 3. "I am definitely playing at a higher level than I was last year," said Alexander, who is on pace to have better stats than last year. "If I can keep up the pace, I might win a couple of national awards at the end of the year."

Indiana heads into the bye week with high hopes for the rest of the season. After the bye week awaits two games against top 20 opponents: the Boise State Broncos and Ohio State Buckeyes.

Alexander Named National Defensive Player of the Week

Indianapolis, IN – For the first time under head coach Anthony Thompson, an Indiana football player has gotten weekly national recognition.

Alexander, who had 17 tackles and 2 forced fumbles against Oregon State, was named the National Defensive Player of the Week by the NCAA. “It’s a great honor to be named the Player of the Week,” he said after the announcement. “In order to win that award, you have to out perform every other defensive player in the country. I always figure that someone else will win it, and I am surprised that I was the winner this week.” Added Mike Mayberry, the starting middle linebacker for the Tennessee Titans (he played at Indiana two years ago), “I watch almost every college football game that is viewable on TV, and I have never seen a guy dominate like Alexander did. He had 7 tackles for loss, which is twice as many as my career high, and I’m a starter in the NFL right now. That says a lot.”

The announcement was a huge surprise to everyone in the nation, as Akron’s middle linebacker had 4 sacks and 3 interceptions. “Bullshit,” he said. “I was a complete beast in our game. How could I not win it? This award is bullshit.”

Alexander and the Indiana defense heads into a bye week looking for ways to improve for their next game against Boise State.

Hoosiers Head into Bye Week Eager to Face Boise State

Bloomington, IN - The Indiana Hoosiers head into their bye week eager to play the Boise State Broncos in Idaho next week.

The Hoosiers, who have a shameful 4-6 record against Top 25 teams, will face the 13th ranked Boise State Broncos on their famous blue turf. Boise State hasn't lost there in 4 years. "We know it will be a tough game," said linebacker Tim Alexander, who's 17 tackles last week helped Indiana beat the Oregon State Beavers, "We have spent the entire week watching game film, and we feel that with another week of preparation we will be ready to kick their ass." Added Andre LaGrone, a former starting safety who was moved to cornerback during the off-season, "We are the underdogs, but we like it that way. If we were expected to win, and we lost, people would assume that we're not as good a team as people think we are. If we lose as the underdog, no one will care. All the pressure for the game is gone."

Boise State, on the other hand, figures that Indiana will be the favorite heading into the game. "They're from a BCS conference," said starting quarterback Kellen Moore. "End of discussion. A BCS school always beats out a school like Boise State or TCU. There is no way the experts will pick us over them."

No matter who the favorite is, the game should be a very interesting match-up.

                            -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
By the quality of this update, you can tell it was rushed. I have to leave for a friends house in like two minutes, so I hurriedly finished it without checking it over, so there are probably a lot of mistakes.

yea, i was stunned when i saw it. what's funny is that he's the backup, and probably won't be starting next week cuz the game doesn't recognize stuff like this :D.

                                i probably should .

who do u control on defense? if u control the linebacker, he should easily get 10-15 tackles a game. that's what I do.
