Cards at Reds, Biggest Series For Reds Since 1999

I'm just glad after years of watching the same mediocre shit day in and day out that the Reds are finally competing and in the thick of the division race. I still remember the dissapointment of the '99 one game series (I was only 7) and how thrilled I was when we got Griffey that off-season only to miss the playoffs yet again in '00. I remember how pumped up I was for the new ballpark and a fresh start... and then I went to the first ever game at GABP and we got pounded 10-1 by the freaking Pirates.
For the first time in years this team is on the uptick... and I love it.Comment

Standings heading into Monday:
Cincinnati 67 51 .568 -
St. Louis 65 51 .560 1.0
Even with the sweep, exactly one week later since the start of the Reds/Cards series, the Cards gained one game on the Reds. The Reds aren't goinng anywhere, it's going down to the wire, and I still say they both get in due to weak schedules.
And SMH at Reds fans throwing in the towel after the series. I told you guys it wasnt the end of the world. We had a chance to bury them, it obviously didn't happen. The west coast trip will be much more telling of how the rest of the year will go.Comment

well, i must say everytime i start to count them out, they bounce right back. however if they can't win a game in a big series like they had in cincy vs the Cards we really can't expect them to advance in the playoffs if they make it, but either way, its nice to have a 1 game lead going into the big west coast trip. i still have to say lets see where they stand when they get back next week.Comment

Down 7-3 in the 8th, win 11-7.
8-8 in the 9th, Edmonds doubles, Rolen slaps a ball to the right side to move him over, Heisey lays down the squeeze for the go ahead run.
