    -Jim Edmonds to DL
    -Jordan Smith optioned to AAA
    -Chris Valaika recalled from AAA
    -Sam LeCure recalled from AAA

Valaika is a middle IF, and was the reds Minor League PLayer Of The Year in '08. He was called up because they wanted a backup for Janish, and Dusty wanted an extra RH hitter because they are facing two lefties the next two days.

LeCure will be the long man.

Holliday blew it big time today. Bases loaded down by 1 in the 9th with one out, and he fucking pops up. Unbelievable.

I kinda wanted Randy Winn to take off for home on Pujols's hit, but when he didn't I figured we were screwed. I never knew Wainwright's numbers were bad at PNC.

At least San Fran blasted Cincy.

Absolutely awful pitching performing from Wood-Leake-Lecure. Atleast the Cardinals lost. I have faith Homer can get us in the W column tomorrow he has been lights out latetly.

Right call by Jose on that play. Don't risk a man on third with one out and your 4 hitter at bat, you'd hope your $120 million man would at least hit it in the outfield.

            Damn I'm still pissed.

so if LeCure is the long man, should we be expecting a demotion for Leake

No, LeCure will probably go back down in a few days, they had just used Leake for 3 innings at LA, so wanted someone ready who could go long if needed.

This day off couldnt have come at a better time, the bullpen was abused at SF. What a crazy series.

Reds blow a 10-1 lead to come back and win in extras. Joey Votto is THE MAN.

what a game. glad to be done with the West Coast trip. Finished up at 6-3 out west, far better than most would have imagined.

It's been ugly. Doesnt look like he's comfortable in that role.

Someone is going down, because i'm sure they want Jordan Smith back up. He only went down because they wanted that extra arm.

                        I know they won, BUT....

Letting Cordero hit with the bases loaded was a mistake IMO. You still had LeCure available, and Volquez was on his throw day and could have pitched, too. Plus Cordero cant go two inings, we all know that, and he nearly blew it. Hernandez is ultra aggessive, and Zito is a soft tosser. Let him try to catch a hanger for a double up the gap.

Dusty fucked that scenerio up, he's lucky they survived or he would be second guessed on that for weeks, especially if that devastating loss set off a losing streak.

well Coredero did go two and I am happy he did, not sure I would have tried it, but glad he did, finally yesterday CoCo earned his money, well at least his money for that day, doesn't always earn his money, but he did yesterday.

Dont agree with you on this W2B. I think at that point you gotta leave Cordero in. Make him earn his dues, which he did thankfully. I don't think Volquez or Lecure would have been the right guy to put in to game to pitch.

The national media loves to dog the Reds and say they don't beat good teams (because they don't - losing record vs. all first & second place teams), but isnt it about time "the more seasoned & tested Cardinals" get taken to task for not beating the bad teams? Shouldnt the Reds get some credit for taking care of business and beating the shit out of the teams that they should be beating, while the Cards shit the bed consistantly vs. the Pirates, Nats, Cubs, etc?

                                Copy/paste from another board:

As of the end of games played 8/29/10:

                                Reds 75-55
                                32 games to play
.500 the rest of the way = 91-71 record

                                Whiny bitches 69-59
                                34 games to play
need to go 22-12 (.650) over last 34 games to force tie at 91 wins

So barring a complete collapse from the Reds or a solid month of near .700 ball the WB's are in trouble.
