    Latest Reds rumors..

-TB was scouting Reds AAA team this week, presumably concerning James Shields
-Rockies want D. Mesoraco in any Ubaldo deal.
-Reds interested in Chone Figgins (why?) and Coco Crisp (meh). I'd rather play Heisey in LF than either of these guys. I'd take them cheap, though.

Would you be willing to give up Devin Mesoraco, Yonder Alonso, and Travis Wood if that's what the Rockies say will get the deal done?

No way. Mesoraco is off limits to me. And I hope the Reds front office too. I'm curious to see what kind of deal the teams may discuss about James Shields.

            I'm thinking yes.
During the MLBTradeRumors.com live chat, they said the Phillies would hang up if that was what it took to get Beltran.

I'd chuckle and hang up the phone.

How about Alonso, Grandal, and some low level arms for Shields

                  That I would do.

Alonso is obviously useless, and there is no point keeping Mesoraco and Grandal. Shields has team friendly options the next couple of years.

That's actually a great trade for both sides.

With talks of the Braves being the leaders for Beltran sweepstakes, Rubin has learned that two Philly scouts will be at the game tonight for Mets/Cards.

More of the D.Brown talks ensue...look more for a Cosart and another player type deal though IMO.

A source tells me that there is a trade in the works. Beltran and Holt/Carson for Mike Minor and Clemens of the Braves

                          Hmm....

Minor is what? A projected #2 arm? Clemens is 50/50 as to whether he will develop into a productive major league arm.

If we include Holt, no big deal, he's been doing nothing the past couple years.

The Braves have so many pitching prospects...

Gilmartin is essentially the same thing, and we'd still have Beachy, Teheran, Vizcaino, Delgado, Hoover, Perez and Oberholtzer to fill out the back end once Lowe and Huddy leave.

                              I do that deal.
