I really wonder what the Reds could get for Johnny Gomes.

Unless they get a legitimate everyday starting LF and need the roster spot, I wouldn't trade him. He rakes against lefties and is still useful as a PH in that capacity. Plus, he's sos streaky, he could catch fire for a month, who knows.

If the Mets ship Beltran to Milwaukee, I'll be pissed. They have no legit prospects I thought.

Mets are likely asking for too much from Boston and Philly....at this point, if Minor is available from Atlanta, fine. They should get Pittsburgh's cheap ass involved, too.

Shields is just driving his value up tonight.

Heard today that the Rays are targeting Yonder Alonso and Devin Mesoraco in a deal involving James Shields.

This always amuses me. What exactly are they scouting? The guy has been around forever. We all know he's playing well. He hit a HR two days ago. What could the posssibly be writing down on those notpads?

            "Yup, its still Carlos Beltran."
I've sat next to a couple of scouts behind home plate and they are writing down and timing everything from bat speed to base running speed and I'm sure other stuff that I don't have a clue about. Or at least they are trying to.

At the end of the day though I'm sure somebody has that information that they can just purchase or just look at what Carlos Beltran is. Scouting him for one game is going to give you a better idea than an entire career worth of stats, games, game logs, etc?

That's a great deal for them. I love Shields but if you can get a power bat like Yonder mixed in with their 25 pitching prospects. Damn.

Seeriously, the whole world knows what Carlos Beltran is by now. Plus the Mets have gone around the horn and played everyone already this year. Always cracks me up.

That's a great deal for both sides, and it needs to get done RIGHT NOW.

Would you purchase a car without looking at it first?

Yonder is kind of blocked in Cincy...yeah, they moved him to OF, but he is more of a 1B. He's a Gaby Sanchez type. Probably max out in the high 20's low 30's type of HRs, and not a defensive dynamo, but a good, consistent, high OBP good enough power, lots of doubles type bat in the major leagues.

                      Good prospect.

Carlos Beltran is like a car you've test driven 19 times already.

If you're a scout or a GM and don't know what Beltran is by now, you should probably lose your job.

They are scouting him because, well, that's what they've done for the last 100 years and their not going to change. But c'mon, they aren't learning anything they don't know.

Olney says the Beltran sweepstakes are down to 5 teams (Pirates and Indians are out) and rotoworld assumes the teams are: Philly, Boston, Texas, Atlanta and San Francisco.

Stark cites two NL sources as saying they believe the Mets have drummed up rumors of Philly and Boston's serious involvement to drive up the price for other teams.

They're under the assumption SF will end up getting Beltran for Gary Brown and others.

Buster Olney says the Braves are the front runners for Beltran and are prepared to give up Minor.

Latest is that Philly maybe looking to acquire Hunter Pence. Phillies and Ed Wade have some history and the Astros love to get ass-raped by the Phils. I heard a package led by (get ready to LOL) Vance Worley (ok LMAO) to get Pence.

Beltran looks more to be headed possibly to the Braves (led by a Minor led package and he's been getting hit lately), Rangers, or Red Sox.
