He's actually terrible, and if it weren't for Yuni B he'd be the worst everyday shortstop in the NL. He can't hit a lick, can't get on base, and is an absolute butcher in the field. To compare him to Upton is a slap in the face to BJ, who isn't good either but 10x more useful than E6 Desmond.

Latest Beltran talk:
Rangers have emerged as one of the favorites...Mets been scouting their DEEP minor league system and said only Perez and another pitcher (name escapes me) are NOT available...they have a kid name Erlin, who's been SICK and could be in play.
Giants said KB are still in it, but are offering more quality than the Rangers (maybe one of those untouchables are IN play?)
Phillies are still in it some say, as well as braves.Originally posted by Nick MangoldWes Welker is a great player. He's really taken advantage of watching film. If we don't keep a Spy on him, he could really open the Gate.Comment

"Rasmus, who has been underwhelming to date in the major leagues, has found himself struggling frequently during the first half of the 2011 season with a .246 batting average at the All-Star Break."
/shrug
I knew Frasor had to go, despite being a fan of him. Also liked Stewart's potential.
Color me not impressed but I'm sure Rasmus has accumlated some mumbo jumbo super formula stats I should care about.Comment

Colby Rasmus and TLR have not gotten along for the past year or two, and he has wanted out for awhile. He is REALLY talented, and given the right situation, he could easily hit 25 HR's in a season.
Last year he hit: .276 with an OBP of over .360. He also had 23 HR's and 66 RBI's.
Would be a very solid deal for TOR depending on who else they give back with E-Jax.
I heard Tampa offered one of their SP (Cobb/Niemen/Davis) for Rasmus.Comment

Yesterday, Reds GM Walt Jocketty explained to John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer, "There are guys I will not trade. I will not give you names. But they’re are certainly guys I will not trade." Today Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports has two of those prospects' names: catcher Devin Mesoraco, and shortstop Billy Hamilton (Twitter link).
Fay is under the reasonable belief that Aroldis Chapman is also off-limits. Would the Reds still have enough to pull off a deal for Ubaldo Jimenez? They could assemble an offer around prospects Yonder Alonso and Yasmani Grandal, plus pitchers Homer Bailey and Travis Wood.

Rockies outrageous demands coming down a bit.
I would do Alonso or Grandal + Wood with no hesitation. I would never include Bailey, because if Ubaldo is better it isn't by much. I also wouldn't give them three of these players either. And Chapman? Please. Not a chance.Comment
