In addition to Kentucky DE Jeremy Jarmon, Kansas State WR Deon Murphy, Western Kentucky LB Blake Boyd, and Southern Miss WR Torris Magee have been deemed eligible for the July 16 Supplemental Draft.

Florida State WR Corey Surrency and Central Michigan OT Joe McMahon are also eligible. Only Jarmon is sure to be drafted, but Magee (6'2/214) offers NFL size and averaged 14.4 YPC on 44 grabs in 2007 before an injury ruined '08 season. Surrency is a talent, but has a laundry list of character red flags

Redskins GM Vinny Cerrato emphasized that it's "yet to be determined" if Jason Campbell can be a franchise quarterback.

"We hope he can play 16 games like he played the first eight last year. Consistency throughout," said Cerrato. The team's offseason actions -- flirting with Jay Cutler and Mark Sanchez while refusing to extend Campbell's contract -- clearly indicate a lack of faith in Campbell as the long-term answer.

Backup Redskins QB Colt Brennan said that he's "going to play a ton" in the preseason as he battles with Todd Collins for the No. 2 job.

That may mean that the Redskins are trying to see if he can step on the field in 2009. After trying to acquire Jay Cutler and Mark Sanchez in the offseason, it's clear starter Jason Campbell is on a short leash. Brennan put up huge numbers at Hawaii, but has yet to take a regular season NFL snap.

Free agent Shaun Alexander says he hasn't ruled out a return to the NFL.

The rest of the league has, but Alexander isn't ready to admit it. The 32-year old says he's had "preliminary talks with a few teams." Alexander spent part of last season with the Redskins, finishing with 11 carries for 24 yards

Albert Haynesworth pleaded no contest Thursday to a traffic charge of reckless driving.

Haynesworth received a 90-day suspended sentence for the misdemeanor. He'll also donate $5,000 to charity, perform 25 hours of community service, and complete an eight-hour defensive driving class. They better get a big car

Former Kentucky DE Jeremy Jarmon, who missed his senior year after testing positive for a banned substance, worked out for 18 NFL teams yesterday.

Jarmon has applied for next week's supplemental draft. The Redskins had four members of their organization there, including executive VP of football operations Vinny Cerrato. Despite the positive test, the talented Jarmon will be in a NFL camp.

Redskins rookie FB Eddie Williams is a project at this point.

Considering Mike Sellers is still going strong, it's unlikely Williams will get on the field anytime soon. He's coming off a knee ligament injury and hasn't practiced with the Redskins yet.

Texas Tech DE McKinner Dixon has joined Kentucky DE Jeremy Jarmon and others in having acquired eligibility for the July 16 NFL Supplemental Draft.

Dixon had nine sacks as a junior playing opposite Cowboys fourth-round pick Brandon Williams. This will be one of the top Supplemental drafts in years with FSU WR Corey Surrency, Southern Miss WR Torris Magee, Kansas State WR Deon Murphy, Central Michigan OT Joe McMahon, and Western Kentucky LB Blake Boyd also eligible. Jarmon could go as high as the third round after running between 4.75 and 4.84 at 6'3/278 during last week's Pro Day.

Rookie QB Chase Daniel thinks he has a "fair shot" to make the Redskins' roster.

Daniel was signed as a free agent after not being selected in the draft. He was tremendously productive in Missouri's spread offense, but lacks the size and arm strength to be a starting NFL quarterback. It would be a shock if he beats out Colt Brennan or Todd Collins for a roster spot

NFL Network's Mike Lombardi reports that Jeremy Jarmon will likely be selected between the third and fifth rounds of Thursday's Supplemental Draft.

Calling Jarmon "a very good football player," Lombardi says he's spoken to at least four different personnel men that are high on the Kentucky defensive end. Jarmon would fit nicely as a developmental left end in a 4-3 scheme.

In addition to running his 40 in the 4.7-4.8 range at his Pro Day, Kentucky DE Jeremy Jarmon posted 19 reps of 225 and a 31" vertical.

They're not Gaines Adams or Vernon Gholston numbers, but won't hurt his chances of being a high supplemental pick. Jarmon might have been a first-day selection in 2010 had he not tested positive for a banned substance

The Lions are reportedly among the teams interested in Supplemental Draft prospect Jeremy Jarmon.

Detroit wants help at strong-side end, which would be Jarmon's best position fit at this level. ESPN's John Clayton calls Jarmon a fourth-round prospect.

Chris Cooley says Redskins coach Jim Zorn has promised him he'll score "at least" six touchdowns this season.

Cooley scored just once in 2008, but averaged seven touchdowns a year in his first four seasons. This may also indicate that Zorn plans to throw more around the goal line. That could cut into Clinton Portis' TD opportunities

ESPN's Adam Schefter predicts that Kentucky DE Jeremy Jarmon will be picked no later than the third round of today's Supplemental Draft.

It's very high for a player coming off a 4.5-sack season, but teams clearly are smitten with Jarmon's athleticism-size combo. The Redskins, Lions, Rams, and Jaguars could all use the pass-rush help. It appears the second most likely player to get drafted today is Kansas State WR/KR Deon Murphy

The 49ers plan to sit out today's Supplemental Draft, according to beat writer Matt Maiocco.

The Vikings and Patriots are also not expected to place bids. The Lions and Redskins seem like the most likely clubs to participate. Bidding teams must give up a draft pick in the same round next year to acquire a player. Maiocco says the 49ers "are not interested in using a 2010 pick on anyone available."
