The Washington Post reports that the Redskins are "actively pursuing" a trade for Jay Cutler and hope to swing a deal as soon as possible.

Owner Dan Snyder is pushing negotiations, but Denver will take its time. About half of the league has interest in Cutler and the Broncos will want to hear all offers. Washington has reportedly contacted an unnamed club about dealing Jason Campbell for a second-round pick, which the Skins would then use in a Cutler trade. Snyder is currently sitting on only four 2009 picks

The Redskins reportedly offered Jason Campbell to an undisclosed team for a second-round pick on Wednesday.

The offer was probably contingent on Washington getting Jay Cutler from the Broncos with the pick as part of a package, which might also have included the No. 13 overall choice. The Skins have made it clear that they aren't committed to Campbell by balking at a long-term contract and now this.

Jay Cutler told FOXSports.com's Jay Glazer that he never wanted the Broncos to trade him.

"I didn't want to get traded," Cutler said. "(The Broncos) had been going back and forth saying things, wanting me to be their quarterback. I love Denver. I didn't want it to get this far." A reconciliation seems pretty unlikely at this point, although Denver's asking price is reportedly "greater" than a first- and third-round pick. Cutler may also demand a new contract.

The Broncos have reportedly been so swarmed by inquiries about Jay Cutler that they've been unable to return most phone calls.

They're asking for texts and emails rather than phone conversation. "It could mean something's happening fast, or maybe they're just overwhelmed," a source said. Cutler has reportedly told friends that he'd like to play for the Titans or Bears, who he grew up cheering for. That may not matter, though, considering the lack of communication between trading team and tradee

The Titans have asked the league to investigate the Redskins' February 27 signing of Albert Haynesworth for tampering.

Tennessee claims it has evidence that Washington negotiated with Haynesworth before the official start of free agency. The Titans turned over audio and newspaper articles they deemed incriminating of a Redskins official. The Skins have a close relationship with Haynesworth's agent, Chad Speck, however. It's hard to say if anything will come of this.

In addition to the Redskins, the Jets have reportedly been "aggressive" in their pursuit of Jay Cutler so far.

The Bucs have also shown interest, and the Lions and Bears are involved. Denver would rather deal Cutler outside the conference, which seems to give Tampa Bay, Washington, Chicago and Detroit the best shots at landing him.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that a Jay Cutler trade could come by as early as Friday.
Mort says Denver wants "at least" two first-round picks and doesn't need a passer in return. Only the Lions and Eagles hold two first-rounders in this year's draft, so other clubs will have to give up future picks to execute a deal. The Redskins and Jets are known to be in active pursuit at this time.

Im so glad the Bears got Cutler. I think we need to give Campbell alittle more time. I say give him preseason and 4 regular season games.

Im so glad someone else is contributing to this thread. Thank you.

I agree. Let Campbell there and let him in work, I still think we should have made a push for Houshy or Boldin or Ocho Cinco. We need a big time threat.

The Bears reportedly beat out the Redskins and Browns to land Jay Cutler.

Washington and Cleveland were said to be in on talks until the very end. The Browns likely offered Brady Quinn and draft picks, while the 'Skins reportedly were trying to move Jason Campbell to a third team in order to broker a deal

The Browns reportedly had a deal on the table Thursday afternoon that would have sent Brady Quinn to Denver.

The reported deal also involved the Redskins, presumably with Jay Cutler going to Washington and Jason Campbell headed to Cleveland. Cutler told a Denver TV station that he was headed to Washington, but the deal fell apart at the last minute. The Broncos were believed to favor Quinn over Kyle Orton

Free agent Byron Leftwich has reportedly been in contact with "one unnamed team" other than the Steelers.

Pittsburgh wants Leftwich back, but he'd have a better chance to start in Tampa Bay, Washington, or Detroit. The Lions have said publicly that they want another veteran QB. Carolina and Cleveland are other possibilities.

The Redskins have moved to "rebuild" their relationship with Jason Campbell after missing out on a Jay Cutler trade Thursday.

The Skins whiffed harder than Elijah Dukes (21 Ks in 49 ABs) did all spring. Campbell won't pull a Cutler, though, even working out with his team yesterday. He confirmed that coach Jim Zorn called him late Thursday to say they're "in it together." Campbell said, "I'm still the quarterback of this team until they get rid of me.

Redskins owner Daniel Snyder met with Jason Campbell yesterday to clear the air after the team attempted to trade him for Jay Cutler.

Snyder was reportedly the driving force behind the attempted move. The meeting apparently went well, and Campbell doesn't sound like he's holding a grudge, only saying he plans to become "the type of quarterback Mr. Snyder wants."
