The fate of MMA in NY will apparently be decided Wednesday when State Assembly Dems (the majority party) meet to discuss the issue. Whether it comes to a vote or not will literally be based on one man....the most powerful politician in the state (aside from the Governor, although he's essentially right there)....Speaker Sheldon Silver.

Mind you, this is the same man in hot shit because he helped keep allegations of sexual harrasment towards a former peer (disgraced former Assemblymen Vito Lopez) under wraps.

Story there is about how Cuomo is getting sick and tired of Silver's bullshit because he's being asked about said bullshit.

Silver, apparently, will only push the pro-MMA bill to a vote if he "sees" enough support form his peers. Mind you, womens groups have come out recently against the sport (spouting the same ol tired BS from the Culinary Union)...yet they apparently have no public issue with Silver, ironically.
