Well, that obviously makes sense and is no surprise considering it's a prequel.

I really hope that this game blows me away, but the more I hear about it, the less interested I am. I think more than anything it's my parents fault. They should have held off on my conception for an extra 10 years or so. That way I'd be in prime Batman/comic love mode for these great games. As it stands, when my comic obsession was at its apex, fucking Hulk Ultimate Destruction was the only decent comic book game around (and the irony of that is certainly not lost on me).

I am not sure what you're even basing this dig on. Hulk: Ultimate Destruction came out in just before World War 2 I guess.

Black Mask is generally a generic crime boss in the comics, hope a Secret Six appearance can be arranged

Just saying Batman games wicked until recently, but Hulk was the only good choice mic game you'd play up to that point?

Hamill had mentioned that he wanted to go out as "The Joker"...

SPOILERS FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T BEATEN THE GAME YET

 

...since Joker buys it in Arkham City

...on top of that, Conroy's mentioned that he won't do it without Hamill either (and vice-versa) so there's that.

Personally, these guys (as well as Ironside, Hayter, Tara Strong amongst others) are pretty well-known in the voice casting circles for games/series like this...

But they can't do it forever and it's nice to think somebody new can step in and possibly drive the ship if need be.

That or just hire Nolan North and be done with it.

That I'm not just going to love something just because it's a comic book (or Batman) game like I would have at another time in my life. When I loved comics, the games sucked. Now that I don't care about comics, they've improved immensely, but this game sounds like more of the same, and without the love of comics there is less of a drive for me to get this (that and I don't see how they can improve on the previous 2 entries). 10 years ago, I would have purchased every Batman game without a second thought.

Kevin Conroy will voice Batman in Arkham Origins.

A retailer listing has revealed that downloadable content will add Deathstroke as a playable character in Batman: Arkham Origins. An ad on Amazon indicates that those who pre-order will receive a $10 credit as well as “playable Deathstroke DLC.”

Previous rumors about Origins suggested that the game may have multiplayer that would see you “play as a member of Joker or Bane's gang while trying to take down Batman and Robin.” That mode is still unconfirmed, and even if it does exist, it’s unclear whether Deathsroke would factor into multiplayer or be part of the single-player campaign.

Deathstroke was previously confirmed as one of the game's eight main villains and appears in the first teaser trailer. This wouldn’t mark the first time a villain has been playable in the franchise, as The Joker was playable in Arkham Asylum for PlayStation 3 players and Catwoman was playable in Arkham City.

We’ve reached out to WB about Deathstroke and will update this story with any comment we receive.

Batman: Arkham Origins will hit Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and Wii U on October 25th. Look out for the first full-length trailer on IGN tomorrow.

Kevin Conroy will voice Batman in Arkham Origins.

Warner Bros. revealed Batman: Arkham Origins is fronted by two of gaming's most prominent voice actors. Roger Craig Smith is confirmed as the caped crusader, and Troy Baker is his nemesis, the Joker.

If you don't recognize the names, you'll definitely recognize their previous work. Craig Smith's immense portfolio includes Ezio Auditore from Assassin's Creed, Chris Redfield from Resident Evil, and he's the current voice of Sonic. While he's never starred in anything Batman related, he does have superhero experience. It is for the other side, however; he's played Captain America in both games and animations.

Baker is similarly prolific. While he recently graced our screens as Booker DeWitt in BioShock Infinite, his past work includes Sgt. Matt Baker in Gearbox's Brothers in Arms, Snow from the Final Fantasy 13 line, Kai Leng from Mass Effect 3, and Vincent from Catherine. When we profiled Baker around this time last year, he shared his love for all things Batman on the back of starring in Arkham City.
