The trade is not complete so an exact figure has yet to be settled upon or announced but the Dodgers are expected to pick up nearly all of the $271.5 million in combined salary that the Red Sox are sending to them.
A Red Sox source said tonight that the Dodgers would pick up more than $260 million of that amount, which represents nearly 96 percent of the remaining contracts of Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford, Josh Beckett and Nick Punto.

Crawford will replace Victorino, and even if Beckett is shit, he will just replace one of your shit bums(Harang/Blanton).

The best part is you get rid of that fucking abomination that is James Loney.

Crawford is a crapshoot, who knows how he will recover, but I think Beckett will be fine. Moving from the AL East, to the NL West tends to improve a pitcher's stat line. Hopefully Josh likes El Pollo Loco.

Rubby is the biggest piece that the Dodgers are giving up (I've always thought Webster to be overrated as a "top" prospect, Lee and Rubby are the best two). Rubby throws gas at 100mph, sharp ass slider. Hate to lose him, but Beckett's immediate impact helps. Beckett had a toxic year in Boston this season with a goofball manager and pretty much living as the scapegoat for last season's collapse. Clearly it's more fun to pitch in Dodger Stadium against NL West lineups than Fenway against teams like the Yankees. I trust Beckett starting a playoff game 10000x more than Harang/Blanton. Gonzalez is clearly the most important piece and I know if anyone does about how that dude hits in the NL West. Beast.

Damn that's a ton of fucking money.

I'm most leery about Crawford. He's on the books for a long ass time (seriously Boston, WTF were they thinking?). I just hope his Tommy John surgery works out like Rookie of the Year and he magically finds power. He's slow now, and he can't hit lefties. So I guess we'll now have two under-powered lefty OF hitters who aren't remarkably fast.

Great move for Boston. Dumping some serious salary. I'm not happy as a Reds fan because the Dodgers are a potential playoff matchup and they just got good players who could show up in the post season.

Absolutely filthy middle of the order, especially with HanRam sporting a .291 /.348/.532 line post ASG. Amazed at how this trade went down, and how much the Dodgers are spending.

Also giving credit to Cherrington. People will complain, especially Sox fans, and I don't think they got quite enough for Gonzalez, but they dumped all that salary and it will be unfair to judge the deal before seeing how at least half of that money is invested.

To get someone to take Carl Crawford's contract which is one of the worst in baseball, you can't expect something big in return, even if you couple it with Adrian Gonzalez, whose value has never been lower.

The Saux basically got to clean house...get rid of a lot of their high end contracts on a team that basically wasn't going to work.

I think it was a good move...they weren't going anywhere with the roster as is and a lot of those contracts made it impossible to reconfigure.

I don't understand how people like this for Boston. Yes they took a ton of money off the books, but Cherington took a team that was a WS favorite, and ended up one game out of the playoffs and turned it to absolute shit. Not all the blame is his, but he certainly hasn't made any good moves.

Crawford is a huge unknown, but the other three players, are well worth the contracts they've signed. Cherington has torn the team apart, and is postponing any chance of winning in that division for the next 3+ years. Effectively wasting the rest of Ortiz's career, and the prime of Pedroia and Ellsburys'.
