This trade makes a ton of sense for both teams. There is not a Quarterback that warrants the #1 overall pick. With that being said, I see the Rams looking to snag either Bradford or Clausen. So, they can move down to get their QB and Tampa gets Suh. The Lions end up with McCoy, which is fine, and the player we planned on nabbing when Tampa was #1 anyway.

The only part that doesn't make sense.... Josh Johnson. If you want a Mike Vick clone, why not just go after Mike Vick?

The JJ part doesn't have to make sense. It's just an afterthought so to speak. the Rams will get what they want [franchise QB] while gaining a 3rd round pick and a smart backup.

Yeah very true, it doesn't have to make sense. Johnson could be a serviceable back-up and they still get a pick and the Quarterback. Sounds like a smart move for the Rams.

It's even less then what the Falcons gave up for Vick - the Falcons gave up the 5th Overall, a 3rd and Tim Dwight.

Although I guess if you say they gave up Tomlinson, a 3rd and Tim Dwight it sounds a bit more blockbuster-ish.

Giving up Suh for what amouts to a garbage QB & garbage 3rd rd pick is embarassing.

How can you have so much hate for Spags after a one win season, yet be fine with Bulger playing out his deal? He has been the starting QB for a team that has won 6 games in the past 3 seasons. I'm done with Bulger, he is terrible. It's time to move on.

As for this trade, I don't see it happening. The Rams may end up trading their first round pick to the bucs, but it won't be for Johnson and a 3rd round pick.

I hate to break it to the other Bucs fans on this board, but this broke right at the same time that season ticket renewals were due. The Glazers don't have the money to invest in a #1 overall and will likely try to trade down. This was a PR move to get fans excited and make a quick decision on their season-ticket renewals. Which, by my count, didn't work. Many fans saw right through this "news" and knew what was up. Quite frankly, I'm offended the Glazers and the rest of the front-office/marketing/sales groups think we are so stupid.

The same sources told me that if the Bucs don’t trade up, and Suh and McCoy, who are ranked No. 1 and 2 respectively on Tampa Bay’s draft chart, are off the board at No. 3, that the Bucs surprisingly favor South Florida DE Jason Pierre-Paul over Tennessee’s Eric Berry. The No. 3 pick in the draft is widely considered the most pivotal selection in the top 10, as it can alter the view of how the opening frame will ultimately turn out; a prime example of that was in last year’s draft when the Kansas City Chiefs reached for LSU DE Tyson Jackson with the third pick.

It would be surprising to see Pierre-Paul drafted ahead of Berry, but since Tampa Bay needs a pass rusher, and the fact that they have a strong contingent at every South Florida home game during the collegiate season, they’re very comfortable with Pierre-Paul and the upside he has at the next level.

Jason Pierre-Paul at #3.... seems really high. I wonder how his stock will hurt or impact Berry's. I just can't see that guy falling very far. As for the Bucs, I understand you value the d-line, but how could you pass on Berry. I understand Suh/Mcoy over Berry, but that's about it.

Man, please dont be that stupid to pass on Berry. An Ed Reed type game changer. He and Jackson would be a fckin terror back there. Granted we need a pass rush but Jackson, Talib and Berry can potentially make for the best secondary in the league. If we dont get 2 of those 2 DT's we have to take Berry. We need a secondary help just as much as we need DL help/ Have to go with the best available according to needs and when you have a Berry available you would think its a no brainer.

Berry is definitely a ball-hawk, but, he isn't much of a tackler. Jason Pierre-Paul may be a reach at #3...right now. However, he is a physical specimen and he has acclimated to a steep learning curve while only playing organized football for a few years.

Selvie has lived off of his speed. Selvie can still be a very good player at the NFL level, he just needs to develop his repetoire and not rely on his speed and his first move so much - ala Gaines Adams.

I don't get the hype on JPP. Sure he's an athletic freak with a ton of potential, but he's incredibly raw as a pass rusher. He needs to learn to use his hands and he needs to learn more pass rush moves, not to mention he's bad against the run. In high school he almost quit playing football, and he's been to 3 different schools because of academic issues. His interviews for teams at the combine will be crucial for his stock.

I'm also going to go out on a limb and say Pascatelli will improve into a good starter.

I hope thats the case. He showed flashes when he was playing in a rotation with Flip and T-Jack but when he got shoved into the starting role he looked like shit. Hopefully thats because of the scheme. The defense as a whole looked much better once Raheem took over the playcalling and reverted back to a primary T2. That said if we dont trade up to get Suh then we cannot pass on Berry. Not for that DE from USF at 3.

Question to Bucs' fans. How would you guys feel about Vince Wilfork? If the Patriots and him don't come to a long term deal he will probably get franchised and if he does he will want out.(Hopefully NE signs him to a deal) He has expressed interest in playing in Tampa. Would Tampa be interested and if so what would be a likely compensation that Tampa would be willing to give.

I watched Josh Johnson play in college at San Diego. The only thing holding him back is his frame in my opinion. The guy has the ability to make most NFL throws and ecels throwing on the run.

He played NT for the most part, but this year we played a little bit more 4-3 and a there were a few occasions where they moved him the end in the 3-4.

He went to the University of Miami so whatever defense they run.

I think Wilfork is looking for a 4-5 year deal. Not really sure the amount of money he is looking for though.

Take it for what it's worth, but Rams' GM Billy Devaney was on a local sports talk radio show and said he has had no contact with Tampa Bay regarding a trade for the Rams 1st overall pick.

I can't see Wilfork playing well in a 4-3 scheme. He's a massive space-eater made for a 3-4 defense.
