I doubt he'll better 422 yds. passing next week against the SB champs. Of course his numbers will drop.

He did make some really amazing throws (like that one TD to Smith), but he also had a ton of bad throws the receiver had to make hella adjustments to get. Let's wait until he plays a real D before we start crowning him the GOAT.

And the reason he didn't run, is because every time he tried he was stopped quick.

Not this kind of hope. Newton looks like a franchise changer. I'm assuming you didn't actually watch that game. Nor did you see his post-game reaction.
While everyone was showering him with praise for his poise and 422-yds passing, he was dejected and pissed off ... not used to losing. Kinda like Michael Vick's reaction, saying he wanted a cleaner performance. I want that from my team's QB ... a guy not satisfied with stats or a win. A guy wanting perfection.
Stop being argumentative for the sake of arguing. That Panthers team last year looked pathetic and Clausen even more so. Panthers' fans had no hope for this season or the future until they saw what Newton did.
Newton took 10 years off Steve Smith today.

I watched a bit of it.

But I did watch a rookie QB go ahead and tear up a defense that was 29th in the league last year in yards allowed. (23rd in passing yards allowed).

I'm not argueing for the sake of it I'm just calling out your bullshit. This is the exact same same situation as the bucs last year where the rookies were chewing up on shitty teams and people thought they were legit.

Now if Newton turns around and plays well in a game against an opponent that at the end of the team is better then avg. defensively then hey I'll join the club and drink the cool aid and join the club. It was only one game though and it was against a bad defense.

I was surprised by his performance yesterday. Showed some pocket presence and was pretty accurate for the most part. I will probably end up actually watch most of the Panthers games this year .

I was impressed with his accuracy. We knew he had a strong arm but he was delivering the ball where it had to be all game.

It's not surprising that Korn Jr. (OOBL) is a big Cam Newton guy. I would be stunned if he wasn't.
That said, Macken's argument is specious. Today, Newton gave Panthers' fans something they haven't had for quite some time - HOPE.
It appears as though they have their franchise quarterback. I watched that entire game because I wanted to see Newton's debut and cheer for Kolb. I wasn't surprised at Kolb's play, I always thought he was everything Andy Reid said he was. The Cardinals finally have their franchise QB. And they didn't pay too much to get him.
But Newton was a revelation. That kid responded to the non-stop blitzes beautifully and played a great, composed game you'd expect from a veteran. And he did it without a run game.

Yeah, the Panthers lost, but they also won. They got HOPE.

Not surprised that I back Cam Newton? Why would I ever be excited and back the #1 overall pick for my favorite team? It's outrageous, I should just hate him and not back him because I don't want to tarnish my rep. Me backing a player on my favorite team just adds to how cheesy I am in Madden I guess.

he might be good,that would be interesting. But we wont know if he's worth a damn till December because he will be lucky to survive the next 4 games. Of course he is young and dumb and doesnt know what he is in for, but that might be a positive for him too.

Wait just a minute... a rookie got lucky because defenses had a shortened preseason? So did the defense get unlucky that this kid just came from the SIMPLEST college read option spread offense into the NFL and TORCHED an NFL defense? So.... basically... a ROOKIE.... with no OTA's, training camps, and limited reps and practice time is lucky to humiliate an NFL defense with almost the EXACT same core and system as they ran last year? Makes sense... watch out, bigbucs may get mad that you are trying to overtake him as the worst poster on VSN.
