To be fair he is a rookie and your expectations are for that of a seasoned veteran. It really isn't fair to expect him to be reading defenses and going through progressions like Tom Brady. Being an NFL QB is a process that takes time. He's two games into his career.......as the season progresses I'd expect the offensive philosophy to grow with his experience and understanding.
I agree. I'm just questioning and wondering if he WILL get to the point of being an elite veteran QB. I really don't expect to see it his rookie year.
Is he too dumb? This is generally a question that people have of black QBs and its pretty sad, because you would think we were past that.
It is sad that we don't seen to be past this. Why are you even bringing it up. My comment had absolutely NOTHING to do with race. It has to do with his crappy wonderlic score, the incredibly simple offense that Auburn ran when Newton was a senior (not a freshmen) and he couldn't even describe a SIMPLE Auburn play to Gruden when asked in an interview. Nothing of these things have to do with RACE. For the life of me, I don't know why you brought race into this. I didn't consider race at all.
In college football the offensive philosophy generally is what it is, and they recruit athletes to play within that system.
That's why I included this:
"Did they have to? Or was that just the coaches style? "
It's a fair question to ask. Was it just the Coaches style of offense with ANY QB or did they have to? Either way, Newton was in a simple offense. We have not seem him handle a more complex offense yet. It's a fair question. And even in a simple offense, he had an extremely difficult time trying to explain a very simple play in the simple offense in an interview. Again, nothing at all to do with race.
He had one of the greatest single statistical seasons ever, won a Heisman and National Championship, so it obviously worked. This should be commonsense.
Agree with a highly successful college senior season.
What else is common sense is this doesn't translate to being a good NFL QB. If it did, we would have seen a LOT more successful QB's coming out of college. My red flags were his wonderlic score, only running a very simple offense and Newton not being able to describe ONE SIMPLE play in an interview with Jon Gruden.
Within the context of it being his second career game he's playing well and even his haters (such as yourself) have to admit that.
The only reason I don't like the guy is for being a douche. Nothing else. What, I should dislike the poor slubs who got there laptops stolen instead of the guy that stole the laptops? Not surprising he turned out to be a douche, look at his dad trying to lottery his kid off to college schools. I don't like his family. Nothing to do with NFL or race, I don't like them because they are douche's. Why should I like these guys? Are we again praising the jerks and ignoring the victims?
We don't see rookies come in and have passing games like this.....this is just the truth.
Agreed. And I also mentioned in my post that I like what he said and the attitude he had in his post game pres conference. Somebody, like me, can recognize the two game accomplishment and also be impressed with his post game press conference and still think he's a dirtbag. After listening to his press conference, I think he could be what I wanted Mike Vick to be when he came out of college and end up being an elite QB that really understands the position (Vick, another dirtbag - again, nothing to do with race).
Before you or one of his haters gets strawman on me.........I'm not saying he's going to be the GOAT or even an elite QB
Well, I'm saying, and I said in the original post, that after hearing his post game press conference, that I think he has the mental outlook and desire to be elite. So I'm actually going farther than you are. I just dislike the guy for being a DIRTBAG. I think I'm being pretty darn fair to him with my comments on his football considering I don't like the guy for being a dirtbag. Again, race has NOTHING to do with it, just his douche actions like stealing people's laptops, students that probably rely on their laptops.
.....just that he's had one of the best statistical starts to begin a career. Its obvious your dislike (hatred) for him is massive, which is pretty sad in its own right.
Again, I recognize and appreciate his rookie start. NFL will get tape on him at Carolina and NFL Defensive Coordinators will figure him out. The next step for Fox and Newton will be to keep installing more (and more complex) of the offense and see how Newton handles that.
And, why is it sad to dislike a fucking dirtbag caught stealing laptops from other college students? This was an adult, in college, stealing from others. We're suppose to LIKE the guy? Really? You think it's sad that I dislike the guy for this? Shouldn't we feel for those that got there Laptops stolen?
Come on back and answer me. I'm REALLY anxious to hear what you have to say about this. And don't fucking bring race into this. It has absolutely nothing to do with race. So tell me why it's wrong and pretty sad that I don't like the guy.
