Seriously though.. the division argument is a joke. The NFC South was worse than the West this year. AND the Saints found a way to lose IN St. Louis - something no other division team did.

St. Louis played out of their mind that day. Still no excuse, but look at the Saints pre-Rams and post-Rams and you see two different teams. Saints make teams trade FGs with TDs. The Saints D gets a bad wrap but they have been pretty consistent in forcing teams to kick FGs while the O just racks up the TDs like it ain't shit. I mean saying the Saints lost to the Rams while still steam rolling everyone is pretty dumb. I could understand if they consistently lost to bad teams, but that was a bad week. The Bucs started hot if everyone remembers. The Packers game was only a foot away from potential OT where it would come down to who won the toss, but I mean keep on bringing up the Rams. By the transitive properties the Rams have beaten the several playoff teams :kanye:

By the standings, the Rams won 2 games. Vs. you, and against the Browns. A total of 1 playoff team.

I in no way said that is the reason they are 13-3. What I was alluding to was that they haven't faced the greatest offense of all time. I remember that Detroit game earlier in the season. They may have played some pretty good offenses, but the O's in NO and GB I believe will be too much. The QBs know how to work the field so well that there really is no D that can stop them.

of course its true because it did happen. SF may be good but the easy wins against weaker opponents may hide how good or bad they are against what will be a much better opponent,,, I do think this game has better potential to be closer than the Tebow game maybe..

By the way - the 49ers won that game 27-20. Smith passed for 242 and the 49ers only had 50 rushing yards from their RBs. Did it passing, not running.

You can even discount the come from behind win against the Eagles in Philly because they missed the playoffs, but the 49ers still beat four of the five playoff teams they played this season. NY Giants, Detroit Lions (in Detroit, when they hadn't lost yet), Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football, Cincinatti Bengals in Cincinatti.

I'm glad you think those were easy wins...

By the way, the last time these two teams met in San Francisco (September 2010) the Defending Superbowl Champion Saints barely won with a 4th quarter fieldgoal. That score was 25-22. I see no reason why the 2011 49ers (who are playing 10x better than the 2010 squad) can't be more successful than that in today's game. If this game must be played, the best case scenario for the 49ers is this one. It's at windy Candlestick Point with an excited home crowd, an extra week's of rest and preparation, and a Breesus who hasn't pass as insanely well outdoors this season (he's still fucking awesome, though). I have to hope that our corners won't drop any picks that come their way and that the fierce Smiths (Aldon and Justin) are able to pancake Brees into the turf.

Saints still have the edge as a superior offensive unit, but the 49ers have a big, strong, fast, and healthy defense in addition to fantastic special teams. Should be a great game.

Again.. I think the Saints will win because they have better quarterback play and more playoff experience... but stop saying the Niners schedule was soft.

Its the parity/free agency era, every one is weaker no matter what their record is. Everyone in the league had a soft schedule because you can only point to 2 or 3 teams who appear really strong..they are all in the playoffs and none of them can play defense as far as season stats show. San Fran can play defense but it takes them forever to get a touchdown. Defense does not win Championships, scoring more points does and the 49ers cant do that.
 
well...its not over yet..but it appears the Saints are the same as last year..finesse offense and no defense, or at least not the right kind to do the right thing when needed
 
I hate that the Sproles play was ruled a catch, but wouldn't be in the end zone because he didn't maintain possession. Stop having conditional rules on what possession is.
