The game went pretty much exactly how I thought it would except the 4th quarter got a little more wild than I thought it would.
Vernon Davis is a beast.
The 49ers got a lot of bounces but they made it happen. They are just a more complete team in all 3 phases of the game.
The Niners can beat the Giants or Packers, I like their chances vs. the GMen more because they'll be at home. At Lambeau will be tough.

I understand that but I think that's why I am so mad at Gregg Willliams. Why blitz? I get it that he's supposed to be some crazy DC who will bllitz anytime but there are times you just have to throw that shit out the window and play a prevent and let them try to dink and dunk up the field. Not only was it a stupid call, but you let there best player run around in single coverage Davis destroyed everyone yesterday and GW just thought " o hey on this drive where they want it most he won't do anything special." At least double cover his ass. Sean payton told GW in the superbowl, when Dallas Clark was starting to get into a groove and catching everything, " You can't let their best player beat you." I guess he still hasn't learned anything from that.
Why not? Alex Smith did the exact same thing in Detroit earlier this season, but only he made the game winning throw on 4th down and not 3rd and there was no field goal safety option.

I have to wonder how the tone of the game yesterday would have changed if the officials had called the obvious helmet to helmet that caused the fumble for the 49ers on the opening drive where the Saints were about to score a TD? Probably not at all over the course of the game because Gregg Williams inexplicably refused to double cover the only 49er that gashed them all day. After the Saints scored to take the lead with a 1:30 remaining, I told my friends watching the game with me that all the Saints had to do was double cover Vernon Davis. I think he had 70 yards and the TD on that last drive :smh:

If anyone was thinking I was playing the "if" game was sadly mistaken. I was saying that Greg Williams isn't where all the blame should be placed. I wasn't making an excuse. In the end though it is almost common knowledge that this was Williams last year in NOLA. It's been assumed he would pursue head coaching again.
