I have a HELL of a time with fire mages for some reason. The quest where you black out after a drinking game and end up at this ruin with a shit load of mages was very tough for me. Another was a ruin where I met up with this chick that had lighting magic and we went to take down this guy named Vonok I believe. He was a BITCH.

I did a lot of quests so far but haven't gotten to either of those, maybe the second one but def. not the first one.

I'll look into it, I don't disenchant/enchant much, I'd rather sell shit for gold right now.


p.s. if you don't use a magic character, do a playthrough with a total magic driven guy, it's so awesome. once you get used to changing spells and knowing what to use when, it's just so fun.

i literally blow up basic enemies with a single spell, it's hilarious. 3 draugar charging at me...BOOM, bones flying all over the fucking place and I'm dusting off my robes like a boss.

I'm a Theif-Mage build. I started out breaking into homes, stealing everything I could get my greedy hands on and selling them at market. I knew I was always going to use some magic, but around lvl 10 I realized how badass all of the magic classes were, and I started working on them all. Funny, how now I don't use destruction as much though, hmm. Maybe I'll go work on that more. I find conjuration, arrows, and staffs do most of my damage.

Man I haven't used a perk point in 16 levels. Just not sure what I want to commit to and didn't want to waste them early on. Still deciding what to put them towards.

I plan doing a mage type character and an assassin type. Probably won't do the main quests much with them, just go around and mess shit up.

Also, I've only recently starting using archery and its a big bonus. Now I can do some damage to guys before they charge in. I'm a level 26 with archery and need 4 more to get the Eagle Eye perk.

Go to Riverwood and speak with Faendal. Do his quest, delivering a note to the girl in town that he loves. Then go back to him and complete the quest. Make sure you don't tell the girl that Faendal is trying to set Sven up...make sure you tell her that Sven wrote the note, and don't mention Faendal at all to her! Go back and speak to Faendal to complete the quest.

NOW, ask Faendal to follow you. Then you ask him to train you in Archery, max out your skill. Then ask him to exchange items and take your money back, including any gear you want of his.

You will most likely level up when when increasing your archery skill. So back out, level up, and go back to learn more archery from him. You can only learn so much from him though, I got to lvl 75 in archery off of him. I wish I would have known this guy and this exploit earlier in my characters life.

I somehow messed up the first mission with Tolfdir. He wants me to do something but I pressed A on him and interrupted him when he was talking about what I had to do to the thing on the ground. Now he is busy and I can't talk to him.

Are you still in the lesson/training room with him?

 

I think he gives you the Lesser Ward Spell book. You might have to go to your inventory and learn the spell book first, but after you learn it you can go into your Restoration magic and use that spell in front of him.

He will then ask you to stand on the opposite dark circle object you see on the ground and defend yourself with the Lesser Ward. After that he'll ask you to meet him at the Sarthaal Excavation site. Hope that helps.

I made it to a door that needs a key to open, but I never got a key, and I don't know where the key is. Tolfdir was following me, and I was looking for "the danger under Sharthaal when I got to a room and cleared it out. But then Tolfdir stopped following me and walked back up into the alter room where the spirits spoke to me, and now I can't talk to him. I'm missing something here.

I'm gonna be doing that for awhile. Still have 4 Dragon Souls in the bank. I've been on an expedition for the words and I gotta say I love the diversity in the way you find them. Sometimes at the end of a cave, in a hall full of witches, or just a random wall in the middle of a group of hunters' base camp.

Finally with the help of the Whiterun guards we were able to take it out.

Where is the best place to buy spell books?

I know its been answered and this might not help u now but

 

If u go to Understone Keep which is right near Markath and go inside to the left and speak to Calcelmo he pretty much has all the Spell Books to buy.

The underlying theme of Skyrim is that all dragons are dicks. Whether it be killing a few villagers, swallowing you whole, or chasing a rabbit to the ends of the earth.

I'm not sure since I'm not really using magic at all, but my gut would say that would fall under enchanting, since you can't create anything with Smithing that utilizes charges (or is enchanted in any way for that matter).

i been doing alot of enchanting/disenchanting. once you start the college quests you have so many chances to find enchanted items that it becomes worth your time to disenchant them instead of taking the gold. the problem with enchanting something into a badass item it that you must have badass tomes which at lower levels are harder to find.

plus u can not disenchant a item that you already know the enchantment for....and i have not been able to disenchant any of my staffs this far. there is also no option for making a staff in enchanting. I dont know about smithing

My level 24 character is a top notch archer, it's so awesome to go into a cave and see 4 or 5 bad guys walking around oblivious to your presence and then just taking them all out without any of them even noticing exactly what just happened.

i agree about playing as a mage. its so awesome. i am also using archery but its all about the spells.

This is is pretty much the character I'm building. I have two ideas for what I want to make next. I'm thinking of making a Naked Nord or Naked Orc, and seeing how far I can get with that. Basically a character that I never buy armor for, travel naked, or in basic hide/leather, and wielding a huge fucking warhammer/battleaxe! Obviously I'd learn oak/stoneskin etc.

For now, I'm a mage and loving it!!! But my Archery is already up to 90 and I'm OMW to get the baddest bow in the game (or so I'm told).

I walked into <quest location withheld> and flicked arrows at a distance and killed like 8 NPC's from one ledge, including the main boss that I could barely see zoomed in. Like I saw his head and one shoulder. He started casting some Ward spell but that didn't stop my arrows from penetration his head. lol It's a skill I think you must have in this game, Archery.

I don't know if anybody has used my post on how to exploit archery training, but I left it up a few posts back. It might help somebody get into Archery that hasn't tried yet.

i got faendol with me right now (although the fag is off doing who knows what...i dont know where he is). I already did his training and took the gold.

your post about this though is backwards a bit. At least for me it is....it was sven who gave me the note to set up faendol. I ratted him out to the girl and then she told me to talk to faendol. he has been pretty good in battle

I tried to do a mage archer, but its too much of a pain in the ass to swap out to spells and the bow. so fuck it. im going old school minmaxer. destruction in one hand, resto in the other, enchanting to get the most out of my gear.

i wish the favorites menu was a little better. idk if you guys know but you can setup 2 quick use items.

highlight the item in your favs menu and hold dpad left and dpad right...then when you want to equip the item on the fly just hit dpad left/right

I wish there was a "Recently Added" section in your inventory.

I'll be picking up shit, some are unique items and my dumb ass forgets what its called so Im roaming thru my entire inventory for 10 mins. lol

If there was a Recently Added section, then it would be a select set of items to look thru.
