other than that I believe I've read a stat saying like 3/4 of points scored with Vick under centre came either tied or in the lead....

Huh? I remember one game in his career when Vick actually brought the Falcons back from a deficit...it was against Carolina. Otherwise, it was basically the opposite of what you said. You knew right away whether or not the Falcons were going to win or lose with Vick. The game was either going to be an easy win for Atlanta or they would get trounced. Even when the Falcons went 11-5 with Vick (one of their 2 winning seasons during Vick's 6-year reign), they still were losing games by scores of 56-10 and 27-0.

Who gives a fuck? He brought excitement back to the game, did something no one had done for a long time and became the best at it. I'd rather lose with Vick and get to see him do what he can do then win with a traditional style QB any day.

No. I said that if Vick wouldnt have got in trouble and was still in the league, he'd be on the Falcons right now and there would be no Dimitroff, Smith, Ryan, or Turner on the Falcons. How does that not make sense?

That would be because in Atlanta Vick was bigger than being the QB of the Falcons. Vick's appeal transcended sports and went into the realm of being a sacrosanct for the community as a whole. To the white community Vick was the exciting QB who gave a dead franchise an identity and marginal success and to the black community he was a representation of being "one of us" as an identifying factor. This is why Falcons fans defend him so hard (and blindly). However, its too bad Vick never respected this support, but given the circumstances behind his suspension its also unfortunate that some Falcons fans still defend him.
 
I'm not even saying Vick was a "great" QB at all. But I respect him for everything he did for Atlanta up until the dog fighting. I'm glad he played for my team and he definitely made football fun to watch when I started watching the NFL. I'm not blindly defending him either, but I would like to see him play in the NFL again.

Is that seriously where you were going with that? If you were telling this to a group of monkeys I could understand it, but you're telling this to a group of guys who obviously follow the NFL, so I don't understand the point of even mentioning it. That would be like me making the point that if it wasn't for the ineptitude of the Admins at MM we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Vick's stats his final year in the league:
2,500 yards passing 20 TDs 13 INTs and 1,000+ rushing yards

To say Vick was a bust is just stupid, the guy won games while in Atlanta and brought something different to every game. You never really felt like the game was over when he was playing, like he always had some trick up his sleeve.

The play against the Vikings in OT, The run against Carolina where he dives and practically flys into the endzone, The TD run against the Saints where he waves his hand over the pylon while going out of bounds... I grew up watching this shit and I'm glad Vick played in Atlanta and gave the sport some amazing plays. I'd take Vick's roller coaster ride in ATL over LT.

...not to mention if Vick wouldnt have fucked up then the Thomas Dimitroff/Mike Smith/Matt Ryan/Michael Turner combo would never have been.

However, the tone (point of the post) of your post was to point out Vick's accomplishments (ie, you posted his stats, some highlight plays,etc) as a way to prove that he wasn't a bust. You then prefaced your last sentence with the words, "...not to mention" as if Vick should be given credit for the Thomas Dimitroff/Mike Smith/Matt Ryan/Michael Turner combo even being assembled. Buy, hey I guess I read it wrong...my fault

In terms of running the football as a QB, Vick was the all-time best. Even if you hate Vick, we should be able to agree on that. He took the title of "scrambler" to a completely new extreme that the league had never seen. Thats the greatest accomplishment for Vick, his rushing stats and his unbelievable plays.

Obviously thats not exactly what every QB would want but you can hate the guy all you want but after the dog fighting charges, Vick will always be known for running the football.

20 TD passes for a QB=not a big deal. Vick doesn't get bonus points for being bad then having his best season TD pass wise when it's a total most other QB's are EXPECTED to get to.

1,000 yard season=overrated seeing as sack yardage doesn't come off of that. And again I direct your attention to Bobby Douglass...

Sorry but I dont understand why pointing out the fact that if Vick wouldnt of gotten in trouble he'd still be the franchise QB in Atlanta is pointless.

And Vick brought Atlanta to one NFC Championship game, thats a decent achievement for any QB, but obviously I'll take the revamped Falcons over the Vick Falcons.

Basically the tone (I know what the word tone means, but thanks for insulting my intelligence anyways) of my post wasnt to be a Vick-homer, I pointed out reasons I personally regard Vick as a good player but then got back to facts that I'm much more happy with the new team.
 
I personally thought Vick was a great QB, and a great weapon. He was an elite player that could take it the distance every play, and very few athletes get recognition for that in the NFL. Fuck wins, fuck stats, those are numbers and quite honestly, neither of them have much at all to do with Vick. Ask any defense coordinator what their scheme was for stopping number 7 and tell me this guy was a bust.

Just because he wasn't YOUR ideal quarterback does not mean he isn't a great quarterback. I want players on my team that give the defense problems... whether that means he can throw a ball through a doughnut like Peyton Manning, or that he can scamper at any time and pick up first downs. Vick is the latter. I'd take him as my QB any day.
