Falcons release Vick

I wouldnt say he blew them all, if Roddy White would of stepped up in his rookie year like he has the past two seasons things would of been different, if Peerless Price didnt jog his routes and drop easy deep ball catches things would of been different etc. etc.

I wouldn't run hard if I was Price either. Vick rarely saw him.

Vick had "the best rushing attack in football" because his rushing stats were part of the attack in the first place.

Incorrect. Even with Vick out guys like Dunn, Duckett etc still averaged the same amount of yards. Dunn actualyl improved his average.

Plus the Falcons had a good offensive line.

Thats debatable, He had a career high in TD catches with Vick. Not to mention he didnt become a starter till 2006 anyways.

Jenkins last two seasons have been the best of his career. When taken all around.

I can say I'd take Vick over LT in that draft because Vick was what the Falcons needed, he provided a face for the team and made the Falcons exciting to watch. The Vick time line is well worth the 6 years imo so I can honestly say I'd take Vick over LT in that draft.

Getting Vick inevitably led to the Falcon team of today, where the team has a complete offense with every piece of the puzzle needed to win on the offensive side of the ball.

The bottom line with all this for me is that Vick made the Falcons exciting and the time he spent in ATL up until Matt Ryan took over was something I enjoyed seeing. Matt Ryan makes the Falcons relevant though, something Vick could not do consistently enough.

Vick did do positive things for Atlanta

Ron Dayne did nothing for New York

Ryan Leaf did nothing for San Diego

Brian Bosworth did nothing for Seattle

I don't think vick was a bust, I don't think he completely lived up to the hype, but Atlanta wanted a guy that could win games, they got a guy who took them to the playoffs multiple years and even had a conference title game appearence, he holds NFL records, whatever they may be, and he was more often then not an electrifying player on the field.

Wasn't a great player, maybe not even a good player, but the guy won some big games. and not because he had a supporting cast.

A #1 pick should not leave the franchise until they retire.

A #1 pick should not be replaced by a 3rd overall pick at the same position .. when said #1 pick was only 26 years old.

A #1 pick should not have a career rating of 75.7

You spun it in your favor because not only did you assume Horn played with Vick, you assumed wrong. Then you backtracked and said that someone here pointed out the Falcons never brought in help for Vick, which is obviously BS, of course the team tried to bring in guys to help Vick.

Horn wasnt brought in for Vick so much as he was brought in for the Falcon's young receivers in Roddy White and Michael Jenkins. He was a mentor for Roddy especially and helped turn his swag on.

But they gave him a fat contract to basically come in and be a WR mentor. The guy was on the sidelines in street clothes wearing a coaching headset for the ladder part of the season.

Umm No again. The entire context of discussiong Vick's WR's (or lackthere of) depending on where you stand was that he didn't have Moss, Carter, Rice, Owens. Well the Falcons went out and tried to get him help. Tried to give him weapons. Horn was one of those attempts....no matter you feel of Joe Horn.

Vick's absence also led to them signing a running back (Mike's that amazing I guess) that would post career numbers and finish 2nd in rushing on the year.

Okay first off, the whole argument of me taking Vick over LT in that draft is because the time line. Vick was exciting to watch on the field and was worth the 6 years and then 1 year of BS until Matt Ryan and the new gang take over.

And bringing Drew Brees into all this is just dumb, come on. The Falcons went with the appealing potential phenom QB in Vick with their first pick instead of LT. The Falcons taking Brees later is just pushing the whole thing too far and pointless to bring up.

Michael Turner would not have went to Atlanta if Vick was still playing today. Petrino was brought in specifically to make Vick into a great passer (ha) and after Vick got in trouble Petrino bailed.

Had Vick not got in trouble, Petrino would of stuck around, the Falcons would not have needed the massive over haul in personnel and Dimitroff would not have gotten brought in. Dimitroff went out and signed Michael Turner because he saw what he could potentially provide for the team and he was right. So yes, Vick's dumb choices led to the new Falcon team.

Fair enough. I'm just looking at what he did on the field and what his poor decisions led to. Is Vick a great guy? I dont know nor could I care really. He was a good player while he was in Atlanta and was easily the greatest at what he did. If he could of had a full career he would of shattered every mark for running QBs.
